3. How exactly would they do that?

Wouldn't the speaker HAVE to be chosen from the current elected reps?

14. People throw this around every time there's a Speaker change

There was talk back in '94 of electing Limbaugh as Speaker.

15. Chuck Todd spoke about this and actually named Frederick Gillett

but he was wrong. Gillett was a member of the House.

How the Speaker is chosen
As the highest-ranking member of the House, the Speaker is elected by a vote of the members of the House. While it is not required, the Speaker usually belongs to the majority political party. The Constitution does not require that the Speaker be an elected Member of Congress. No non-member has ever been elected Speaker.

13. Nope. The Constitution makes no requirement whatsoever, and no other officers are ever Members

"The House shall elect its Speaker and other officers..."

None of the "other officers" (Doorkeeper, Clerk, Parliamentarian, Sergeant at Arms, etc.) has ever been a Member, and the Speaker always has, but there's no requirement for either of those.

27. No. Constitution does not limit to elected Reps....

only says that the House (elected members) shall choose the Speaker. In practice, the Speaker has always been a member of the House, but technically it's not required.

9. No. Boehner will be elected Speaker.

And he will cry all over again. And if they don't reelect Boehner, he will still cry.

Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'. Yeah now
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time

Now you say you've found someone that you love better (better)
That's the way it's happened every time before
And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow ('morrow)
Cryin' time will start when you walk out the door

Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me
I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'. Alright now
That it won't be long before it's cryin' time
(That it won't be long before it's cryin' time)

12. No, the only ones saying that signed petitions for secession too...

...so they're hoping for a Speaker they want for a country they don't want to belong to.

And on both counts, they'll finally be treated like the ranting cranks that they are.

except that, of course, any replacement is going to be a LOT worse IMHO. *ugh*

No way they elect someone from outside. Complete idiotic discussion the M$M is foisting on us again.
