Have Congressional liberals ever blocked any Obama legislation?

I can only think of one example, where Pelosi stopped a bill over a dispute about releasing torture photos (she wanted them to be released, Obama said they're none of our business). As I recall, she successfully stood him down but then after the law passed the photos didn't come out anyway. If I have any of that wrong, please correct me.

Kucinich came close to blocking something, but then Obama took him on a ride on AF1 and Dennis caved.

Other than that, did liberals ever block Obama?

1. Yes.

Dems said no to Obama's plan of Tuesdays being Beer and Flipflop day.

2. Yes - closing Gitmo

They STILL won't appropriate the funding to close the base. But the DU naysayers still blame Obama anyway.

4. But why?

The answer to the OP stands. In 2009, Democrats controlled the House and the Senate and they refused to fund the closure of Gitmo. And you even had red states like Montana clamoring to take those prisoners.

But alas. It remains.

5. I think the OP was asking when liberals, not Congress, refused Obama a request

in a way similar to that where the Conservative House members have done to Boehner. I don't think that has happened. Gitmo's closing was opposed by a very broad coalition of Congress.

6. The OP didn't mention blocking the Speaker

The OP mentions blocking an "Obama" request and facetiously cites Pelosi and Kucinich. Obama requested that Pelosi, who was Speaker from 2006 - 2009, to fund the closure of Gitmo. The Democrats had 256 seats in the House and eventually, 58 seats in the Senate (+2 indies) in 2009, more than enough to pass the funding, yet they stripped it out as a cave to rethugs, and refused to put that funding on any spending bills.

And every year they hemmed and hawed while rethugs laughed, and so here we are with nada.

7. It wasn't just GOP opposition

I am not defending the opposition but it was bipartisan.
