I was getting a tattoo the other day, and the old dude who was putting needle to skin

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by SunsetDreams (a host of the General Discussion forum).

was complaining about how many clients he had and how tough it was to find younger artists who could take up the slack. He said even if he could bring in another artist, most of his clients want him to do the work and the rest of the artists in the shop have their own clientele and are just as busy. It seems lots of people were willing to have their names placed on waiting lists and make appointments weeks in advance just to have the honor of a tattoo from this particular artist or one of the other artists renting a chair in his shop.

Looks like things are picking up out there.

Most people couldn't handle the strain on the wrist holding the gun while inking somebody. It takes years of practice and hard work to get to the point where you can handle doing good work for a few hours four or five days a week.

And these people are ARTISTS in every sense of the word.

I've more respect for a good tattoo artists than I do for most painters.

Please feel free to post this is in Meta. After a discussion with GD hosts, it clearly is some sort of a play off of this thread http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022119584 Please work out the issue with the DUer xoom there.
