Scott Brown running for Gov instead of Senate is very worrysome

http://politicalwire.com/archives/2013/01/02/democrats_worried_brown_may_run_for_governor.html

Democrats Worried Brown May Run for Governor
"While Democrats frantically try to block Scott Brown from going back to the U.S. Senate, there are also increasing fears he could pose an even bigger threat as the next Massachusetts governor," the Boston Herald reports.

"Republicans close to the departing U.S. senator said he's itching to go back to Washington to replace John Kerry, but Democrats are buzzing more about a potential Brown gubernatorial campaign in 2014. It may be tempting for Brown to run in a special election against a vulnerable Rep. Edward J. Markey, but he should reject the easy play and go for the job that really matters -- running the state of Massachusetts."

1. Scott Brown reminds me of a Christmas Fruit Cake people keep passing around never getting rid of

2. Why would it be (more) worrisome?

Are the Democrats in trouble in Massachusetts? The last Republican Governor (Romney) didn't leave much of a good taste in most people's mouth.

3. The guy won one election against a bad candidate and suddenly he's Superman?

Warren won in 2012 by a larger margin than Brown won by in 2010.

2010:
Brown: 52%
Coakley: 47%

2012
Warren: 53%
Brown: 46%

5. Well in 2012 we also had Obama at the head of the ticket and a bigger turnout

in a presidential election than will be in a special election. Obama certainly helped Warren as he received about 62% of the vote. While Brown is no Superman, he isn't to be taken lightly either as he has name recognition, money in the bank and an organization ready to go. It will be a close election if he runs for the senate or governor.

12. Bear in mind--he won by five in an election where his opponent DID NOT CAMPAIGN.

AT ALL.

Until the last 2-3 weeks, that is.

If she had even put in marginal effort she'd have beaten him.

6. Only because of President Obama's coattails and there have been 2 Repub. gov's in recent history

Weld
Romney

and Deval is term limited out.

Brown also is popular on both sides and Brown is for gun control, the issue of the day

there are no coattails in 2014, same as 2010.

8. Yes, but he still is not Superman

Will it be closer? Probably so. But there's no reason for us to be quivering in our boots. He is beatable.

7. The endless panic on DU regarding Scott Brown is amusing.

This guy lucked out in 2010. He ran with the teabag enraged white suburban male tide and against the pathetic Ms. Coakley, who basically thought the seat was hers and couldn't be bothered to campaign. He got his sorry ass handed to him by Ms Warren, who did campaign, and demonstrated that Mr. Brown is not actually a nice guy in a truck, but a bit of an idiot, a liar, and a rather unpleasant person.

9. I could not agree more. Let Pretty-boy Brown run for Governor...

...He doesn't have the chops to do the job. Let him run. He can be another Massachusetts Governor one-term wonder. One terrm as Gov should be all it takes to end his political career once and for all.

10. Why Isn't Duval Patrick Running In 2014?

I thought Markey was running for Kerry's Senate Seat. This article seems to indicate he'll be running for Governor in 2014.

EDIT: Man, I'm just all confused. I get it now. My question is why people don't think Duval Patrick will simply clean Scott Brown's clock in 2014? He seems like a very able candidate. Much more adept than Scott freakin' Brown.

16. Because he CANNOT run again. Term limits

and Deval would be a great VP for Hillary45 in 2016
Deval is the single best Mass. politician now that a kennedy is not in the running

11. Actually, the governorship would neuter him.

We have a laughably huge Democratic majority in both houses. He'd be completely handcuffed legislatively.

I would actually prefer it if he ran for Governor, because if he won, he'd cause less damage.

18. The far right hates him.

The right's already suspicious of Jeb because he's not a fire-breathing nutjob--picking Scott Brown would not be a good move.

19. the far right hates the Bush's. The majority of republicans want to win

it is why Jeb will be the nominee in 16 and HIllary45 is the one and only who will kick his ass, as it takes a Clinton to defeat a Bush.

14. Nor me.

The only reason Brown won in the first place is because Coakley all but told her voters to go to hell and like it.
