The most important issue that needs to be in the national spotlight is CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM!!!

Why do our Democrats sometimes lack a spine? Is it b/c they are suffering from genetic defects? No, it is because they owe a special interest! Why do we allow legal bribery of our elected officials and Judges? We no longer have a representative democracy. Our media is complicit b/c we allowed them to consolidate into 6 corporations, one of which is one of our largest defense contractors (GE). We bitch and moan about Wall Street and the financial mess they created, but act like democrats have our back. We have a class of people (including corporations) who are above the law. No one goes to jail or pays a fine more than the profit they made from the crime itself if they are big or important! We must all do our part to bring this issue into the spotlight and force our legislatures to enact COMPLETE Campaign Finance Reform (CCFR)!!! Just imagine if our politicians did not have to spend almost all of their time raising money! Money will always find a way in, but it would help reset things, and at least make it illegal to bribe public officials! Most of the issues we care about would or could be resolved in a far better way if we had a truly representative government. There are now many disaffected Republicans who would support CCFR because they don't always agree with the corporate Republicans. Help bring this issue to the forefront and keep it there!

1. Totally agree.

Nothing else gets fixed till we get money out of politics.

2. let's get rid of #1 lobby money group, the NRA and guns in the street first, more important

until the republicans don't have their money, I want no reform.

And we would need to bring back ACORN being that they never did anything wrong anyhow

as long as there is 24/7/365 Fox media, money is irrelevant as they have access to millions of people without paying for anything at all but an appearance on Fox

4. I've been saying it for 20 years - Campaign finance is the ONLY issue.

Till we get that, we get nothing but scraps from the rich man's table.

6. There is a bipartisan group out there with a petition: American Anti-Corruption Act

About the Act

The Act was crafted by former Federal Election Commission chairman Trevor Potter in consultation with dozens of strategists, democracy reform leaders and constitutional attorneys from across the political spectrum.

The Act would transform how elections are financed, how lobbyists influence politics, and how political money is disclosed. Itís a sweeping proposal that would reshape the rules of American politics, and restore ordinary Americans as the most important stakeholders instead of major donors. The Act enjoys support from progressives and conservatives alike.

Constitutional attorneys confirm that the provisions are constitutional. The Act is being championed by the Represent.Us campaign. Click here to support this campaign.

13. With 70,000 posts, I would think that you would not be so cynical, I mean, why bother to post at all

Maybe it is time, in light of all of the B.S. going down now, that people are starting to get fed up. Our system is breaking down before our eyes. It will take a huge backlash by Americans to get fired up enough to force the politicians to do what they don't want to do! I would like to try and I am looking for help. Why don't you help me tilt at a few windmills?

15. At the same time, you have an attitude expressed here that is as constant as the earth turning

irrespective of what is or isn't getting done. Have you heard of ObamaCare?

16. I am not naive enough to believe that there will come a time that we could cut out all of the

money from our politics. I do believe however, that over the last 30 years, the Right has executed a long term plan that has paid great dividends in State Houses, D.C., and the Courts. With Citizens United, the special interests have gone crazy! Real campaign finance reform would help to dial it back for awhile and make a lot of what happens now, illegal.
I have definitely heard of Obamacare! I have a severe chronic health problem so I have watched this closely! There were special interests aligned on both sides of the health care debate. Obama was very skilled at cutting deals with Big Pharma and others to get it done. But he had to cut big deals with them because they have big influence with lawmakers on both sides of the isle. Us sick people I'm afraid, cannot contribute to campaigns as much as the Health insurance lobby can. Should these industries have a say, of course! The problem now is the level of influence they have is in excess of where myself, and many others believe it should be.
I like Obama overall. I understand much of the realities President Obama has to deal with to get things done. However, I think for example, he is way too closely tied to Wall Street, as is Congress. They have done NOTHING since the crash to reign in this type of behavior or prosecute the criminals who made it happen. We need to get sensible reform so that average citizens rights do not get trampled by the Monied class. I believe Obama is the best President of my lifetime, but he has played the game they have all had to play to get where he is. I would just like some changes to the current rules of the game that make it more fair for average citizens.

12. How bout Election Reform first?

Federalize the National elections and take the control away from the states where they disenfranchise the traditional Democratic voters (Florida, Ohio, Florida....)
