11. Very odd. I...uh...I'm trying to think of the last time there was a...

.."spur of the moment" press conference called with an audience and (apparently) no press. And maybe a mic in the audience to pick up laughter and applause.

?

9. Ah, you know, this isn't a press conference at all. There's an "audience".

Uh....?

15. Speech, I believe is the word you're looking for.

Or remarks. And I would say "hastily arranged" is probably pretty accurate. All this seems to be changing by the hour.

17. I was just caught off guard because the news was "still no news".

I think somebody called it- the people behind him were just WH staff.

18. Yah probably. But still there are lots of WH staff and I'm sure

not all of them are making 6 figures and many are middle class.

Anyway I don't know what the point was either but I guess it was just to keep folks updated. Why not a press release? Who knows.

16. It was....uh..."unique"....Yes, that's the right word!

I would have preferred an Oval Office address in primetime with the President speaking directly to the nation, but I guess and audience with laughter and applause and a relaxed President is fine for New Years Eve
