Sad thing about the frenzied gun buyers
Of those who are shot, most will have been shot by accident with their own guns or by someone they know, not by someone they fear.

1. The solution to that problem

2. It's a self-inflicted problem/self-fulfilling prophecy...
|
they believe the government is coming to take their guns away, so they buy more guns, which causes more bad things to happen and so more people want to take their guns away...so they buy more guns...

3. Statisticly false
|
Demonstrably, more guns does not equal more gun crime or gun death. Rates of gun related violent crime have been on a decline for many years, even as every day there are more guns in private ownership than the day before..

9. Overall gun ownership has been dropping for at least fifty years
|
Fewer people owning guns leads to fewer gun deaths.

10. Yet so many hereabouts
|
want to limit the number of firearms people can own or buy. Further there is no correlation between how many guns are in private hands and crime rates. More guns does not equal more crimes.

11. If one person owned a billion guns and kept them all completely secure
|
Then if the rest of us had no guns at all you would still have a society with three guns more or less per person and no gun deaths.
It's rather like that old statistic of Bill Gates walking into a bar, the average net worth jumps from near zero to billions. The only thing I can figure out about it is that it's a complicated relationship between gun owning and gun deaths, on the one hand if there were zero guns there would be zero gun deaths. How many gun deaths would there be if everyone carried at all times? Personally I think there would be a lot, people are careless and half of them more or less are of less than average intelligence. |

4. My in-laws are insane gun people
|
They honestly believe it's people like them that are keeping the government from rounding us up and putting us all in FEMA camps. The more guns they hoard the more liberty we all have.

5. I sincerely believe it isn't the fear of having them taken away

Last edited Mon Dec 31, 2012, 08:47 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) as much as it's the fear of not having them to defend themselves from other gun owners.
Who fears anyone who doesn't own or who refuses to own guns? No one. They really do fear each other. |
