Introducing Discussionist: A new forum by the creators of DU

God damn, why didn't I see the fucking elephant in the room?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by REP (a host of the General Discussion forum).

JFK was killed so we could have Vietnam

RFK was killed so we could continue to have Vietnam

MLK was killed so people wouldn't criticize Vietnam

Ike warned us, the MIC lied to us, and people died

I used to think there wasn't enough evidence to prove anyone killed JFK but Oswald

Oliver Stone's fantasy is dead wrong

But JFK was killed, like all those who oppose the Military Industrial Complex

I don't know who does it, or how it is done

I just know JFK, MLK, RFK, John Lennon, Bill Hicks and Paul Wellstone are dead.

And George W Bush, George H W Bush, Paul Wolfowitz, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney are alive.

And Pol Pot, Stalin, Nixon and Reagan died in their sleep.

1. Only the good guys get killed.

Lincoln, JFK, RFK, Malcolm, Martin and so on. They tried to kill FDR.

For the record, I don't believe Hicks was assassinated for political purposes, everyone else, yeah.

When do the bad guys get theirs? Never.

4. JFK Jr. too.

And Joe Kennedy Jr. and Kathleen Kennedy. All by plane crash. Just one of those cosmic coincidences I guess or maybe not.

5. Clay Shaw, the only person ever charged with and

prosecuted for the murder of JFK (and indisputably innocent of the charge), had this to say: "People believe in a conspiracy because when death comes to the figure of a prince, as it did to Kennedy, struck down in his prime, it should come under a panoply of great tragedy with all the resulting high court intrigue -= almost something out of Shakespeare -- not from some poor little psychotic loser crouched with a mail-order rifle behind a stack of cardboard boxes in a warehouse." (Cited in Vincent Bugliosi's Reclaiming History, p. 1348n.)

JFK being shot by a "poor little psychotic loser crouched with a mail-order rifle" is not Shakespeare. More like Pirandello or Beckett, imho.

6. Welcome aboard

To me these things have been clear and obvious for many years now. It's all about money. This is why in 1996 I was convinced they would try to take out Clinton. Most likely via a bullet. They opted for impeachment instead. Why? I don't know. It was so much messier.

Now I am highly concerned they will do the same with Obama. The messy impeachment route is a non-starter this time which leaves only one way to take out Obama. My biggest fear of all is a "palace coup" scenario with a few rogue Secret Service and military people either arranging a dangerous situation or just killing Obama outright in the White House, or somewhere similar.

These people will not go away. They don't think they have to. They think they are entitled and they feel very threatened right now.

And I sure as hell hope I'm as wrong as sin.

7. You know what scares me even more, though?

Here's a scenario to think about: what if another Republican like Rick Santorum, Scott, or godforbid, Rand Paul, even ends up in office once Obama ends his term and ends up being even more of a miserable failure than even Dubya Bush, along with Republicans getting their asses kicked in 2018? And what if a really good progressive, like Kirsten Gillibrand, or Julian Castro manages to win in 2020, especially if they happen to do it by a commanding landslide? If you thought the Teabaggers' reactions to Obama winning his (well-deserved!) second term were scary......well, let's just say 2020 might make that look like a kid's birthday party.....

8. By 2020 teabaggers will be a greatly diminished group

due primarily to old age. The country will be even more diversified than it is now. People of the younger generations, who are by nature much more tolerant and in general inclined to support progressive issues more so than the Baby Boomers and their parents, will be the driving, predominant force by 2020. In fact I pretty much see 2020 as a point that could be the beginning of a Golden Age of Progressivism in this country. I think 2020 will be the defining turning point. So I'm not as pessimistic.

However, Big Money will still be here and feel it is their call as to who runs this country. The dichotomy will be a growing issue.

12. Yeah, that makes sense.

I think the tipping point's bound to come soon, too........but I have a horrible feeling that we may end up going thru a period not terribly dissimilar to the '60s before it finally does, though; the Tea Party may be slowly on its way out, government wise, but this may actually make them more dangerous.....and I don't think it'd hurt to be prepared for the worst.
