Blood Clot - This is why she is retiring

I thought it was health

Because when she shut the door on running for Pres again, she seemed very confident of that statement.

It wasn't like Nixon and Checkers, you could tell from her speech it was the truth.

Here's to a fast recovery!

4. It means she has been having health problems lately

And this is why she is not running for President, and probably why she is stepping out of the SoS role

I like Hilary and think she would make a great President, and is making a great Secretary of State.

Up there with Albright for sure.

So my question earlier was, why would a woman on a never ending trajectory to reach higher and higher, suddenly change direction?

It is because she needs to take care of herself.

Something that is well within ALL of our rights.

And now it makes sense.

Stress WILL kill you.

The blood clot may or mayn't be related to the fall she took several weeks ago. It also maybe related to other health issues. WE DON"T KNOW.

7. It all makes sense

Hilary could be President in 2016

I would vote for her, and you might vote for her

She's damned competent, whatever you say about her

So why would a very competent person want to retire?

I hope she gets well

40. I would never vote for someone as obviously Third Way, pro war,

etc as she is. I wish her well, but when she voted for all of Bush's policies, I viewed her and still do the same way I view anyone who supports Bush policies. They have been disastrous for this country. Her role in Libya and her later comments about it, only confirmed my opinion of her since I saw her cast her vote for Bush's war, then go on to support torture 'under certain conditions'.

We need some real progressive leadership in this country and she is definitely not progressive on foreign policy or on business issues. The country is falling apart under the policies she supports.

I hope she gets better and retires and spends time with her family. But not president, ever please.

3. No, the blood clot is secondary to the concussion. Not chronic. Serious, though.

The doctor on MSNBC said a subdural hematoma was what killed Natasha Richardson after a concussion, but he didn't think it was that. But another clot elsewhere could always migrate and do the obvious damage. So we all have to wait to see if they can dissolve it with the blood thinners.

I think this is the first health scare she allowed to be public

That's fine - you need this kind of privacy

But let it be known, stress is dangerous

I wish her a healthy recovery and a long life.

He never made it out of the hospital but the bleed is not what killed him. I am sending her the healing vibes. I know she prob has the best care available but a little prayer can't hurt.

Because this clot is related to her recent concussion. She was stepping down from State long before this happened.

I still think she's running.

35. You're probably right about that.

Few people get to 65 without something ailing them somewhere along the line. I don't think she has any kind of chronic conditions or anything, else she would not have run in '08 and almost certainly would not have been SoS for four years, an incredibly demanding job. Plus it's really difficult to keep stuff like that under wraps.

Your OP seemed a lot more certain than what you expressed here.

10. Dr. Gupta on CNN thinks the blood clot is in her leg

because of the medication they say she is taking. A blood clot in the leg is no reason to retire I had two of them and went back to work in a steel mill after 5 days in the hospital. Of course they could very dangerous if it travels to the brain or lung.

and she's being monitored and treated with blood thinners. I'm sure catching it before symptoms appear is key.

and that makes me think that there is a longer history of problems. It's uncommon for a Doctor to be doing 'routine' check ups on a Sunday.

Hillary was in fine health when she announced she would be stepping down sometime after Pres Obama's inauguration.

Her resignation had nothing to do with her health.

They retired because not doing so would kill them
