Newtown is starting to taper off of the news

Honestly, it seems to me that keeping it going is having the opposite effect to what many would like. Lots more people buying guns. And many people seem generally tired of hearing about it--and not tired in the now we need to do something about it way. The truth is, more people are concerned about 2% coming out of their paychecks in the next few months, or losing unemployment checks. I don't think people would have dropped it so fast if "the fiscal cliff" bs wasn't going on right now.

I can't tell you what will work better. But I think folks need to proceed with caution, or alienate people in the middle they NEED on their side.

another one will happen soon. And that pains me. But it is the current reality.

By that measure, Newtown will not fade for decades.

Nothing else matters. If the 1 percent win, we're done for, and every other issue is just a distraction.

I like it.

Because the only problem some can see right now is a shooting and spending their time on how to make sure people who don't do such shootings are held responsible/seen as guilty because they own the same things.

This story won't, but should, be HUGE news here because we do have people in power we can call to the carpet (our elected officials) and it is something we can do something about.

The government of Yemen has tried to claim responsibility for numerous airstrikes by American drones in an effort to keep its population from siding with al-Qaeda militants.

Of the nearly 40 attacks launched by U.S. unmanned aircraft in the Middle Eastern country, one in particular has stirred considerable controversy and antipathy towards Washington.

On September 2, an American missile destroyed a Toyota truck loaded with 14 Yemenis from a village near Radda. The attack killed 11, including a woman and two children.

The Yemeni government tried to claim that its own air force carried out the assault, and that those killed were al-Qaeda militants. Many locals refused to accept the official explanation, and eventually Yemeni officials were forced to acknowledge that the strike killed only civilians.

Following a 2009 U.S. drone strike on the southern region of al-Majala, which resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians, Yemen’s then-leader Ali Abdullah Saleh told then-U.S. Central Command chief Gen. David H. Petraeus, “We’ll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours.” The assurance was made in a U.S. Embassy email, which was later disclosed by WikiLeaks.

Sudarsan Raghavan of The Washington Post wrote that “the deaths have bolstered the popularity of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the terrorist network’s Yemen affiliate, which has tried to stage attacks on U.S. soil several times.”

That stunt has started to change the tide of thinking! We now will be on the defensive. This has given the NRA a way to change the subject. And you can bet they will slam us with it. This is what the NRA was praying for, and we could due without.

The NRA propaganda crew are dancing with glee. They will be more that happy to point out that we are pointing out Law Abiding Citizens are being treated like sex offenders. And I want to throw up at all the other goodies they now have to pound us with.

What should have been an easy fight for better gun control has now become a nightmare. Trying to get Newtown back up in the cycle is very close to being a dream. The chances of any gun control regulation is going the same way.
