Bernie Bernie Bernie - I love this man! Smacks down MSNBC host about fiscal negotiations

Last edited Sat Dec 29, 2012, 03:11 PM - Edit history (2)

I don't have a clip - sorry - even more sorry I don't know the name of the host that is filling in for Alex Witt but I still had to spread some Bernie love.

He was being interviewed about the fiscal "cliff" negotiations.
The host said that it has to be a fair and balanced mix of taxes and spending cuts.

You don't say that to Bernie!

Bernie went off saying that the middle class has already paid more than their fair share during this recession while the rich have done quite well. Income disparity. And that tax cuts should not be paid for by the poor, the sick, senior citizens and the disabled.

Except when Bernie said it, he raised his voice. He was just a decibel below yelling.

The host was a little discombobulated after the interview.

And btw - did I mention that I love Bernie?

Hope some others saw it & hoping there will be a link to post later.

EDIT to add - see post #9 for the clip
And also adding that I sleep better knowing that Bernie is in the Senate speaking for me.

12. The only problem I have with Bernie Sanders is he's LEAVING DC!

But I can't blame him. He's fought long and hard and he deserves to have a good life with his partner for a while.

Anyway, there is no way he's going to disappear quietly. He's sure to be a regular guest on the talk show circuit!

14. Bernie's not leaving.

He was just re-elected.
I think you may be confusing him with Barney Frank.

15. You had me going for a minute. Sen. Bernie Sanders just won re-election.

Rep. Barney Frank of Mass. did not run this year, and is retiring. I agree with you, of course--there's no way he's going to go quietly. We need his voice!

2. "Fair and balanced mix". The host is either auditioning for Fox,

or relaying White House talking points.

5. I saw that and felt for Bernie that he had to be subjected to that moron.

There is a reason I don't watch MSNBC in the morning, however, during the holidays there wasn't much choice. Good thing I record Chris Hayes and Melissa. Too bad they are on so early in the morning and morons like that guy (name eludes me) and Luke Russert get the prime morning hours instead.

16. Bernie makes a point that ought to be obvious to everyone, but apparently isn't and can't be

reiterated enough--you don't balance something that's unbalanced by doing the same thing to each side. Think simple algebrabaic equations, think scales. It's not that freaking hard!

29. Anybody who thinks MSNBC is on the "left" is nuts

Yes, compared to the other networks, they are "lefter" than the others, but they are still corporatist, right down the line. You do get more of the progressive viewpoint appearing on MSNBC, but there is always the backdrop of the beltway mentality and the good ole' pragmatic conventional wisdom. It is outrageous that Bernie would have to make such rudimentary points to a host who probably fancied himself (or herself) as liberal.

You want to talk about liberal or progressive, we may only be a decade away from riots in the streets if the income disparity continues unabated.

If only some of the Democrats would take a page from Bernie's book. He manages to get re-elected without pandering to the rich and the corporations, doesn't he?

that time and time again, Bernie is the only guy around willing and able to speak the obvious? He speaks the Truth, but where is the Power? Keep setting us straight, Bernie, and eventually we'll take a real step.

38. Love Bernie

I love people like Bernie and Bruce Bartlett, who pull no punches bringing the real.

MSNBC does at times annoy me. This morning on the Chris Hayes show, guest host Steve Kornacki had a nutzoid tea party lady, and older conservative man and really only had one liberal on the panel. Why?

I don't mind one rightie if there is someone like Bernie to shred the nonsense they spout.
