The explicitly anti-Obama posters here sure been coming out of the woodworkThis discussion thread was locked as off-topic by aikoaiko (a host of the General Discussion forum). Be aware. Just because someone calls himself or herself a progressive doesn't mean s/he is one.

Don't they know that Obama is above being criticized? WTF! Certainly we all should know that Obama is 100% progressive.

Wasn't Reagan with his let's-borrow-from-Social-Security-to-fund-Star-Wars more to the right than Nixon?

In fact, he doesn't need our votes any more and that scares me a bit.
But I am certainly not going to get in lock-step about something like Third Way nips and nicks to Social Security, just because it is Obama proposing it. That would make me a Fauxper or a Freeper - no critical thinking, just saluting. |

He is above criticism? We can criticize any democrat in Congress, but must always extol Obama? I voted for him, both times, and voted in 2010, too. But I cannot praise every single thing a self-described Republican does. I guess I am not reading the DU TOS correctly or something? |

The poster you were replying to was told that the table never existed and hence the proposal was never made.
It reminded me of a story of a butterfly in a dream. I believe a few spoons were bent as a result of the reality shift. I am beginning to wonder if I even exist. Was I dreaming of this negotiating table, or did the table dream me? |

87. You misunderstand. Apparently, some LISTS are more "important" than others
|
When Prosense, Texas4Obama (I think that's her name) and any number of Obama supporters puts forth a list of dozens of the president's accomplishments, it's shit. It's CHEERLEADING.
But put forth a list of a half dozen complaints, even if the damn links to some of them don't work, it's not DESPAIR TROLLING it's gold, baby! GOLD. I actually agree that HSBC should be prosecuted for its behavior and have felt that way for some time. But dismissing a more than $1 billion fine in an effort to pretend that nothing is being done to the bank is idiocy. |

11. They're mad that Obama won, and that the progressive base supported the President strongly
|
It demonstrated that they are Internet bloviators who only claim to speak for progressives, though they're happy enough to predict and threaten dire electoral consequences should their vision not be immediately implemented. Then they all reinforce each other with recs, and they go as duncey as the Fox conservos who were shocked that Obama won.
If these people could get a progressive of their own elected to town council in a liberal district, I'd have more respect for their abilities. They play parlor games, and nothing more. |

We have the patience to wait for them to understand that constructive criticism, not unhelpful snark, is welcome and helpful, IMHO.
