1. Of course ...Obama is flawless. How dare anyone anyone object to anything he says or does?

Don't they know that Obama is above being criticized? WTF! Certainly we all should know that Obama is 100% progressive.

which is a more accurate statement, it seems to me.

Just because someone doesn't claim Obama is liberal, doesn't mean that person is anti-Obama.

I would say to watch out for witch hunts.

Wasn't Reagan with his let's-borrow-from-Social-Security-to-fund-Star-Wars more to the right than Nixon?

Even Reagan didn't offer to cut Social Security. Even he didn't propose endless wars and spying upon all Americans.

In fact, he doesn't need our votes any more and that scares me a bit.
But I am certainly not going to get in lock-step about something like Third Way nips and nicks to Social Security, just because it is Obama proposing it. That would make me a Fauxper or a Freeper - no critical thinking, just saluting.

I have to accept everything he does as wondrous?
He is above criticism?
We can criticize any democrat in Congress, but must always extol Obama?
I voted for him, both times, and voted in 2010, too.
But I cannot praise every single thing a self-described Republican does.
I guess I am not reading the DU TOS correctly or something?

8. Maybe, just maybe, people are getting sick and tired

of propaganda that attempts to paint everything in terms of loyalty to a politician rather than the fundamental values and principles and policy goals of this nation and the Democratic Party.

We and our nation are under assault by corporatists, both those in the Republican Party and many in the Democratic Party who claim to represent us but who are as corrupted by the deluge of corporate money and power in Washington as any Republican.

Our party is now actively complicit in advancing the agenda of the one percent:

He has now broken new ground.

From this point forward, cutting Social Security will always be on the negotiating tables.

You also say, "if you read those threads I'm sure you'll see that none of that really happened."

Actually, they did.

The poster you were replying to was told that the table never existed and hence the proposal was never made.
It reminded me of a story of a butterfly in a dream.

I believe a few spoons were bent as a result of the reality shift.
I am beginning to wonder if I even exist.

Was I dreaming of this negotiating table, or did the table dream me?

When Prosense, Texas4Obama (I think that's her name) and any number of Obama supporters puts forth a list of dozens of the president's accomplishments, it's shit. It's CHEERLEADING.

But put forth a list of a half dozen complaints, even if the damn links to some of them don't work, it's not DESPAIR TROLLING it's gold, baby! GOLD.

I actually agree that HSBC should be prosecuted for its behavior and have felt that way for some time. But dismissing a more than $1 billion fine in an effort to pretend that nothing is being done to the bank is idiocy.

11. They're mad that Obama won, and that the progressive base supported the President strongly

It demonstrated that they are Internet bloviators who only claim to speak for progressives, though they're happy enough to predict and threaten dire electoral consequences should their vision not be immediately implemented. Then they all reinforce each other with recs, and they go as duncey as the Fox conservos who were shocked that Obama won.

If these people could get a progressive of their own elected to town council in a liberal district, I'd have more respect for their abilities.

They play parlor games, and nothing more.

but where I live, in a red, red state, my city is all Democratic council members. Green Party candidates have won county council political office too.

Sometimes people go after others because they don't like what they have to say about religion, but couch it as concern over other things.

He won handily with our support, and I'd like to see him support us in return. So far, he's doing better, but needs to be better still.

Some of them (not all) act like they are sore losers, like the Republicans have been acting since the election. Thank God that this is DU, and we know they're Democrats.

We have the patience to wait for them to understand that constructive criticism, not unhelpful snark, is welcome and helpful, IMHO.

Truth of intention, replies to posts that are thought out to answer rather than distract, polite discussions for and against--these things are productive. These things are helpful.

most of them are probably just frustrated with the pace of progressivism and change in America.
