1. Yeah, just try and conceal-carry that one and you'd sell it too

Some ideas are better on paper

Those are expended rounds...nothing in them at all.

Otherwise the chief would not be touching it...even he is not that stupid

13. Those are single-use launchers

They come pre-loaded, and once fired are discarded on the battlefield.

21. They're not very heavy, no.

Fiberglass and aluminum, if I recall.

I wouldn't want to be smacked in the face with one, but I wouldn't hand them out as melee weapons, either.

23. Maybe a large bong?

The thing was designed to be a cheap, close-range one-man anti-armor rocket. Just an unguided rocket with a shaped-charge warhead in a simple, disposable tube. Good on armored personnel carriers and concrete bunkers.

Once expended, I doubt it's reusable. Finding an actual rocket would be a bitch and a half. Whatever the actual price is, you'd have to add on a $200 transfer tax and a full background check by the ATF... however many months that took.

I think it's an AT4.

7. Just an empty tube, at this point - designed to be discarded after use.

No different than an empty Garand clip or spent ammo brass.

15. The Launcher is not like a condom, use it once and throw it away.

Or don't use it if the "good to use" expiration date is past. The damned thing can be re-loaded. Further, it can bring down a fucking passenger plane if it falls into the hands of a person who knows how to use it.

24. Do you even know what kind of launcher this is?

It's an AT4 rocket launcher tube. Not even a loaded weapon; it's an empty fiberglass and steel tube. Here's what Wikipedia says about it:

The AT4 (also variously AT-4, AT4 CS, AT4-CS, or AT-4CS) is an 84-mm unguided, portable, single-shot recoilless smoothbore weapon built in Sweden by Saab Bofors Dynamics (previously Bofors Anti-Armour Systems). Saab has had considerable sales success with the AT4, making it one of the most common light anti-tank weapons in the world.

The launcher and projectile are manufactured prepacked and issued as a single unit of ammunition with the launcher discarded after a single use.

After firing, the AT4 is discarded. Unlike the heavier Carl Gustav, the AT4 outer tube is built only to take the stress of one firing; it is not reusable and cannot be reloaded like the Carl Gustav.

Maximum effective range: 300 metres (328 yards), although it has been used in excess of 500 meters (547 yards) for area fire.

So, it can't be reloaded, and it can't take out a passenger jet (unless it was parked on the runway and you were on the tarmac).

4. "Rocket Launchers" are just empty tubes with a battery and a button.

They'd make a lousy umbrella stand, but that's about it.

They're not even considered firearms. It's the rockets that go in them that are heavily regulated.

tube. Shit like that tube belongs on a battlefield, not in a city.

20. Tell me you're not serious.

If a person can make a rocket from scratch, then any iron pipe would serve as a launcher (a la mortar tube).

What, you think that the launcher imparts a special flavor of deadly?!?

They could build a launcher tube no problem to go with it.

It's like saying someone could build a freaking tank, but not figure out how to distill a few gallons of ethanol to run the damn thing.

It cannot become just another way for cops to collect information on people or to harass people with outstanding warrants or amorphous "weapons charges".

That's about 2,000 more guns that will have to be made fresh instead of being recycled. $$$

19. And? It's an empty AT4 launcher tube

It's basically an empty tube of fiberglass and metal with a battery and trigger.

Collectors can buy them online for cheap: http://www.gunauction.com/buy/8200493/non-lethal/at4-launcher-and-manual

If this were a live weapon, the bomb squad would have been called in and it would have been destroyed.

About the only way this is dangerous is if you swung it at someone like a baseball bat.

I didn't post this for a debate of what a rocket launcher can do & can not do.

Think if I post again, it'l be comics.
