If We're Serious About Gun Control

Shouldn't it start at The Pentagon?

The essential facts remain: U.S. military outlays today equal that of every other nation on the planet combined, a situation without precedent in modern history.

4. For everyone?

I've never owned or shot a gun.

Can we get rid of the biggest and baddest guns first? I'm for it.

All the Pentagon weaponry is sanctioned. I'm against that.

7. Those are legal guns and probably will remain so in some form

The current bill will grandfather all existing hardware

6. Sure it does

The most recent shooting is illustrative of our societal malaise. Our violent culture is based on conquest so naturally many of it's denizens believe that being armed is an inherent right.

8. has nothing to do with the problem at hand, which started in the 1850s.

if you want to make a comparison that is better-
guns are WMD's and the gun issue needs to be reframed as terrorism and deal with it under the war on terror.

11. Does that mean

that that government should ensure safe housing, a safe food supply and safe occupation for the population?

If it has not done those things does it mean that that government has failed it's citizenry?

12. The French system is perfect. But of course, as you just said, you gotta raise taxes 20%

I agree, because of Republicans, America sucks.

You need the republicantealibertarians to agree to raise taxes at least 20% to pay for more stuff

stuff costs money
republicantealibertarians steal our money and want no taxes
they are like 2 year olds, not realizing that they want their garbage collected, but think it is free.

Freedom's just another word for paying more taxes, so time to cough it up, but I am glad you agree.

Like Bruce Babbitt a few years back, I gladly will stand for more taxes long as its paying for something

13. 2nd amendment vs the 10 commandments

Seems the majority of these rightwing gun huggers espouse the virtues of Christianity, as the guns only purpose is to kill how do they get around the commandment that says thou shall not kill?
