Lawrence O'Donnel Just predicted Ed Markey Will Win June Senate Race

But Brown is ahead in poll 48-30, but so was Hillary in 2008(his words). I am still pissed that Obama took the risk of nominating a sitting senator--putting critical senate votes at risk. Certainly there has to be someone else who is quite capable of replacing Hillary. But I'll take his word that Markey will win. I don't know the state very well, but I would like to think they are not as stupid as some other states. I will give Mass. credit for electing Elizabeth Warren. We will see.

I do know the state well and I'm also well informed re Markey. Furthermore, I don't even begin to get the angst over Obama appointing Kerry. Also, isn't the election in 2014?

Governor Deval Patrick appoints an interim replacement to fill the seat until the special election is held. The winner of the special election completes Kerry's term, ending in January 2015. In the general election of 2014, the seat will be up for a full six-year term.

I do know the state well. I live in Vermont, which as you may or may not know, borders MA and I lived in Boston for 10 years.

Your own words above betray you - laughably so.

Being an actual MA native I tend to gravitate to any thread about my state and 9 times out of 10 you are in that thread giving an authoritative statement about what's going on here - and usually you miss wildly.

Got to like him during the impeachment.

Now, if only Vicky Kennedy lived in the same district, or could move, to take Markey's place in the House...

Brown's primary appeal to voters in MA has been his boy-next-door schtick which failed against Warren and can't be used against Markey, who, we can be sure, will not make fun of Red Sox fans. So what's he going to run on this time? Markey may have low-name recognition statewide, but he will not come across as inauthentic, and we know he can throw a good punch. Every time I've seen him, he comes across as very sure-footed. I like his chances.

throw at Ed Markey? Good question. What will they try and make stick.. because we know Brown can't run on his own Record. Or that of "Scalia" being his fave SCJ.

MA is not as liberal as I once thought. Brown will claim that he is more even handed. He will claim that he can work with the Democrats to get things passed, like "sensible gun laws".

I can't even believe that MA voters could be that ignorant about Scott Brown just because he's "cute".

Think about this - In 2010, a huge year for the Republicans during the contentious health care debate when Democrats were not all that popular, Scott Brown beat Martha Coakley (who was a terrible candidate) by only 5%. This year, Elizabeth Warren beat Scott Brown by 7%. And the Republican party continues to do damage to its brand.

I have faith in Ed Markey that he will pull it off.

I confess I have a personal grudge against Markey for something he did a few years ago that was completely unprofessional.

However, I have to say: absolutely horrible choice.

I've talked with people today who support Obama and also worked on the president's campaign who have predicted that Markey will lose and even one who said he was thinking about voting for Scott Brown.
