Something still bothering me about Cheney in 2009 inauguration

The guy is a life long politician. In his life of politics, image is king. Very few visuals in an occasion like that are accidental.

So what exactly was the purpose of the twin props of black outfit(fedora, coat, and gloves) and the wheel chair.

Were we supposed to direct all our anger and malevolence on him instead of Bush and at the same time underestimate him as a weakened foe? It was just really weird and high camp.

Thoughts?

1. Cheney is a piece of excrement who should be in prison for murder.

2. I don't think Dick Cheney thinks about us while getting dressed.

The simplest answer would probably be that after getting some flak for wearing a big modern parka at Auschwitz instead of formal attire, that he (or his handlers) decided to make sure that he was formally dressed for the inauguration. The gloves and hat were just to keep warm, the wheelchair because he is frail.

3. But he wasn't in wheelchair just prior or after

I'll go ahead and say it was an injury sustained while setting in motion Operation End game. Classic movie.

4. He is handicapped and was ill at the time, and it was freezing that January day in DC

Cheney was never one for staged photo ops, publicity, soundbytes or anything at all.
He didn't play that game personally.

Being a liberal, and his being handicapped, one has to separate his politics from the personal, and wonder what it was in his youth that turned him to the dark side
Was he bullied, so he became the bully?

something had to have occurred. His parents seemed like good people.

nothing to do with his politics, just the personal wonderment of what it was.

And he is an inspiration to (no matter that the law allows him full health and medical with the most modern things at his disposal), but he is an inspiration to science and health care that someday all people will have access to that which saved him.
Much like the first heart transplant patients, or those that get the first tests of a new cancer drug.

again, that has nothing to do with his politics.
One day he will answer for what he has done.

and Ted Kennedy is looking down on all of us from high above, one day Cheney will be looking up from way below with all his buddies.

5. I can't comment on the funereal wardrobe

but he was a cardiac cripple and that wheelchair was likely necessary.

7. He was reminding us that he was a two-bit Bond villain. Also...

he was probably sneaking out secret documents or the remains of a half-eaten baby in the undercarriage of that wheelchair.

If you don't buy that, then here's my 2nd theory: he was sick, ill, rejected by the country, and didn't give a fuck about PR at that point.

8. Cheney was imitating his idol, Dr. Strangelove.

Didn't you notice when he jumped out of the chair, arm stiffed to the sky, screaming "Mein furor!"

9. I figured

He used the wheelchair as an excuse as to not stand for President Obama. And if anyone would do that, he would IMO. He's scum. And it sure is a sad thing to know he has a young heart beating in his shriveled up old body. To think, a REAL human could have used that heart.

14. I think so too.

The official story was that he hurt himself removing 'his' files, which showed he was going to keep making his own rules right up to the end. There's no doubt he had a ton of files removed, there's a lot of doubt that he ever actually did any physical work himself, besides pulling the trigger a zillion times for caged bird shoots. There's a lot of doubt that he had the right to take the product of his paid 'work' for the US with him, but that was his interpretation of his 'legal rights', so he did it. Reminiscent of his interpretation of the V.P.'s office as not being part of the executive branch, so not subject to Congressional oversight. Reminiscent of his defiantly illegal actions opposing investigative oversight subpoenas about his Energy Task Force. He shouldn't have even been allowed on the ticket, since he was living in Texas for years until 2000, like l'il bush, and rushed up to WY to register to vote right before becoming the vp candidate, using his hunting cabin as an address.

Black garb indicates 'mourning', the sitting was overt disrespect, not a 'strained back'. Typical 'in your face' act from the dumpy ugly twisted little nazi repug troll.
