I'm gonna dance on graves

There are a few fuckers for whom I will gladly dance on their graves when they die, My only hope is that I live long enough to do the jig several times.

Say whatever you will, there are some people/monsters who deserve a celebratory party when they are finally sucked off this mortal coil. I don't to hear that "everyone had their good qualities", or "we should be better than they were". You know what, we are better than they were. Some of these people slaughtered thousands and what did we do, but make rude remarks and celebrate their death. There's no equivalency. Evil is evil and when some evil people leave us, it's reason to celebrate, Ok.

George H.W. Bush served his nation with distinction and honor.

I disagreed with the man's policies, but he served his country and should be honored for that service.

I will also note, like the OP, the teabaggers will be dancing on his grave.

19. It isn't "grave-dancing" to tell the truth...

In GHWB's case, there was nothing "honorable" in his jumping from being a harsh critic of Reagan's "voodoo economics" (a term coined by GHWB himself) to its most strident defender, nor in his smirking "kick a little ass" comment about Geraldine Ferraro (after falsely claiming she had said the Marines in Beiruit "died in shame"), nor in his race-baiting 1998 campaign, nor in his support for genocide in Nicaragua.

One hears often about GHWB's supposed "honor," but, in fact, one saw very little of it in his political life. I suspect that, for blue-bloods like the Bushes, "honor" is merely an empty concept like "breeding" -- an abstract label applied to the very rich for behaving in ways expected of the very rich, like always being in good attire and not being caught passed-out drunk at the dive on the highway in the bad part of town. In other words, looking rather than acting the part.

In fact, I'd say that it is only in contrast to his son that GHWB isn't considered one of the most unworthy occupants of the White House this nation has ever seen.

demonstrates that he wasn't a "weakling," a reputation that a number of republicans in the 1970s and early '80s were invested in -- just as much so as democrats.

But it does not make him a respectable human being. Far from it.

I've never believed that death transforms an asshole into a saint. The evil (say something like Iran-Contra) a person has done should not be forgotten or forgiven just because they're dead.

Though, God knows, I think I see a state funeral for a traitor in the near future of this country. Which says a lot about how corrupt the government and media are.

20. EXACTLY!

We're ALL going to die. . . . each and every one of us.

And death is not going to magically make us all martyrs & saints, just because we've passed on. Some people get respect simply because they die. Hell, people die all the time--several have died since I started typing this. Death doesn't make them noble, good, respectable, or worthy of any kind of accolades. They're simply dead. What DOES count is what one does while alive. . .

21. The bad thing about Americans.....

is their with us or against us culture.

They always think their side is good while the other side is evil and just want to kill people when that really wasn't the case.

BTW, I may feel a sense of relief at the thought of somebody like bin Laden being dead, but I don't dance on their graves. They still had a family. If one believes in the afterlife, then it's hard not to believe one goes to Hell. Not that I think any former President is going to Hell, but if one truly believes one is pure evil, then that's the thinking on it. Nothing to dance about.

I'm sure I could list good qualities in certain Republicans, but I fear it would get me banned because of the assumption that I am one. On the contrary, I haven't been able to bring myself to vote for a Republican President yet. I can't do it. I might pass out if I did.

But, he is a Republican that is what they do, they fail to act where action is needed and they deny what should be granted and grant that which should not be. Case in point they have given corporations personhood. They deny citizens the dignity of a real safety net.

39. I don't grave dance. However, I do hide threads pretending the person was better than they were.

Revisionist history simply because a person has died is superstitious, to my mind.

We should never pretend a person had less negative effect on society than they really had. Which doesn't mean we should rejoice in their death, nor sugar coat their lives onto something it wasn't.

We're intelligent, thinking adults, we should act like such.

As far as G H W Bush goes, I have said my piece years ago. I don't need his demise to bring it to the foreground. Which doesn't excuse people romanticizing his life into something it wasn't.

There is a medium ground.

44. No need for all the posturing and holier than thou proclamations IMO

We all die.

Sometimes some are served if some of us die a bit sooner.
Often many are served.

I save this, and will post it when I think it is appropriate, and I will do so without any feelings of remorse or sadness.
I will not think of the families, or those who find me crass.
I'll only think of the fact that the harm they do and have done will - for now - have ceased.

There was a man who, everyday, would buy a newspaper on the way to
work, glance at the headline, and hand it back to the newsboy. Day
after day the man would go through this routine. Finally the newsboy
could not stand it and he asked the man, "Why do you always buy
a paper and only look at the front page before discarding it?"

The man replied, "I am only interested in the obituaries."

"But they are on page 21. You never even unfold the newspaper."

"Young man," he said, "the son of a bitch I'm looking for will be
on the front page."

Personally I am in an all out war with the cowardly chicken hawk draft dodging Republiscums if you guys don't want people like me here then we will find another place to fight this war. 55. Why exactly does he all of a sudden turn into a saint just because he's dying?

Okay, he served in WWII. Somehow he was the only survivor who made it out of his bomber when it ditched.

He did a lot of evil crap after WWII. So, yes, I will judge him for that. Watch "Dark Legacy." You won't be singing his praises after you do.

Evil is evil is evil. I doubt any of you would have mourned Mussolini or Stalin or Hitler's death. Why do you put on this air of "we're better than them" and mourn Bush? He does not deserve to be mourned or praised in his waning hours any more than he deserved to be respected when he was in full health. Call a spade a spade.

He did evil stuff. He worked with Regan to ensure Carter's defeat in his re-election campaign by cutting secret deals with Iran. He worked with Ollie North on Iran-Contra selling weapons to terrorists.

Dancing on his grave will be quite appropriate. I'm sure all the people he helped kill through support of terrorists would agree.

57. ugh. what a steaming pile of stinking dog shit.

how about just saying nothing? And evil, honeypie, is an opinion. It's also a stupid fucking word used by, well, you know. I avoid it like the plague. You see things in black and white. I consider that dangerously simplistic. You celebrate. I'll call you out for it. OK.

58. Not sure which is worse in this thread.

Those looking forward to grave-dancing or the pontificating self-righteousness.

Tough call. Sad thread.

60. Class Act (*sigh*)

...I don't understand what has happened to this place. Reminds me of Limbaugh referring to people who have died as "achieving room temperature". Another class act.

62. I never gravedance when one of these monsters dies

I mainly lament the fact that it occurred far too late to do us any good.

63. I'd make an exception for Hitler and Stalin, but they're already dead....

My silence says it all, no tears, no mourning, no kind words. Silence.

64. There are some that to quote Dylan in Masters Of War.

"And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead."
