The cliff has me scared stiff!

Yes I am venting again.

So much is riding on getting a budget signed and for the Reps. to WAKE UP and to start getting tax revenue in from the upper echelon. We at the bottom are scared right now. So much is on the line. They may be able to go and pass something that will be retroactive later, but many of us down here it will be to late.
I was at a place here in Tucson that helps with interview/work cloths and overheard some very scared ladies. They have been told that once the first comes and they have not done anything many will be on the streets. They got that flier that I talked about a while back. Apparently many Apartment complexes have told many section 8 tenets that if the money is not there as they have been warned may happen that those tenets are out. Add to that many fear that they may not have food stamps come next month due to what they have been told. For many that is the only way for them to afford food. And it just keeps going.

Could it be a bunch of lies to scare us, maybe. But we are all scared none the less. This is something that is making things even harder on the bottom. We don't need more nightmares. It is hard enough on people without more worries. We need to be able to have something to help keep us stable as we try to make our way, many for a second time. Like me. I am STILL trying to get a leg under me after the Joplin Tornado. Now think of those that just survive Sandy. They have a long, hard road as it is. Now they have all this on their already shaky plates.

This fear has got to stop. One can not get up off the ground if the ground keeps getting taken form under them.

and I have said things against it. I'm pretty well situated to deal with it, sounds like you are not. My thoughts and hopes go out to you, friend.

May we get past it quickly.

Something will happen. I feel like there's not much I can do. All my Congress Critters are Dems who would vote the right way.

And I mean it with all my heart. The President and the Dem's in the House and Senate are the only thing that is keeping many I know from really losing it.

i don't want to see my taxes go up. however, once we are over the cliff the tax rates for all go back to the clinton years' rates. this will force the gopers to vote for or against a middle class tax cut. i am willing to take a short hit with lower paychecks for a limited time if it raises taxes on the wealthy permanatly.

It is the people that will be losing their housing if nothing is done. A letter has gone out to Section * people and a local news cast will be doing the report on it in roughly and hour. We who are down, may be out Jan. 1. You see, for the tax thing they can go back later and do something retroactive. For the housing, food stamps, etc. it will not help. We will be going hungry and cold.

I will be doing a link for the story when they release it on their web site.

No deals or grand bargains. Less than 5 months after he took office in the closest election in history W was signing his tax cuts into law. Must not be that big of a deal.
