'It Took Us 40 Years To Get Rid Of Him, Please Don't Send Him Back'

Huffington Post UK | By Sara C Nelson | Posted: 25/12/2012 15:26 GMT | Updated: 25/12/2012 16:12 GMT

Piers Morgan's popularity continues to plummet - not only is the petition calling for him to be deported now on more than 61,000 signatures, but Jeremy Clarkson has weighed into the fray, issuing a public plea that the chat show host is NOT returned to Britain.

The row erupted after CNN host Morgan attacked the right to bear arms in the wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre.

A gun lobby petition to deport Morgan is now well over the required threshold of 25,000 signatories - meaning the White House has an obligation to respond.

Now Morgan's geographical location is on even shakier ground, after Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson tweeted a plea that the former British tabloid editor is not returned to his homeland.

1. The ignorant can petition all they want, no legal basis for this.

I respect the guy a lot more now that I know he's more than some cranky Brit celebrity poser trying to do a Sion Cowel imitation for the bucks.

13. He is a hell of a lot better than his predecessor, Larry King.

King was a disaster in his final days as host.

5. I'm not a fan but "deporting" someone because you find them obnoxious?

WTF? Nobody's making me watch him, and I don't. Next it will be advocating jailtime for anti-gun people (if the NRA hasn't already suggested this.)

7. Okay that is one reason to sign the petition

and send Piers Morgan back to blighty!

If it pisses off Clarkson it is good.

8. Even hatred by the gun nuts can't make me like Piers Morgan

I may like his politics, but you can't convince me that "You're a stewpid man, aren't you?" is the question a professional journalist ever asks. I mean, you can call someone stupid--especially the gun wanker he was interviewing. But to pose that question and just sit there waiting for a reply is the mark of a twit.

This was in the one interview with a gunjobber that I saw. None of his questions ever did anything to expose or elucidate or even challenge the core thinking of the gun lobby culture. He just laid out question after question that was open to canned responses you can get from any paid spokesmode. The man is boring and utterly lacking in depth.

9. If we deport Piers Morgan then shouldn't common sense dictate

that we do the same to Orly Taitz?

10. Cant you take bloody Clarkson too?

Xenophobic, loud-mouthed, misogynistic, bigoted right-wing shit.

I'm sure he'd love to have a gun or two to go with his stupid cars. Pissing Clarkson off is a point in Morgan's favour. Mind you, it's the only one.

Big mistake not to do so.
