1. He has nearly the equally stupid comment
|
about the reason being God not in the school (as opposed to the fact that establishment is not in the school) being the reason for the shootings.

O was in college at the time, and had some friends who were majoring in fisheries. I believe one person was quoted as saying that she lost five IQ points just from having read the clipping I handed her.

3. Well, so much for the Christian Omniscient and all powerful God.

If mere mortals can keep Him out of schools by passing a law. Tell me again why some worship Him?
God sadly replied that He was not allowed inside. He has been banned from schools.

7. Trying to make sense of it never works....

...if god allows us free will, then god isn't going to punish anyone for keeping prayer out of school or anywhere else. That's their free choice and they'll presumably suffer for that choice by not being in god's grace.
On the other hand, if god does act when we do such things, punishing us for doing them, then isn't killing a bunch of kids a foolish way to get the message across? (wouldn't it be better for a gunman to walk into a church, shoot it up, and no one gets hit? thus proving if god is there one is defended?). god isn't there so kids die? By that logic, no church should have ever gone up in flames, been destroyed by storm or earthquake, and certainly no gunman should have ever been able to walk into one, let alone kill those in it..... And most certainly no child who ever went to church and wore his/her cross to school ought to have been shot by anyone. They're carrying god with them, aren't they? And I've never understood why anyone worships any god whose followers use such horrific and obscene scare tactics to get people to believe in him. |

8. Shirley Prudhomme writes a regular column

and she obviously doesn't keep up with current events. It was, what, 3 years ago?
One would think a columnist would actually have to have some original thoughts and knowledge of what's happening in the country. |

Notice to the NRA:
- Columbine had an armed guard on duty at the school - Virginia Tech has their own police department - The Fort Hood "massacre" took place on an army base. I used that twice to successfully back down people who wanted to argue the banning of automatic weapons and that all we needed at Sandy Hook was one armed person. |

you get the idea that a general circulation newspaper does not or should not have any religious content? I know of dailies with religion columns and entire sections, not to mention news coverage that includes references to religion.

What an effing maroon! ETA: An editor writes sentences like this? "Deaths of the 20 children is especially hard." Yes, deaths is hard. Deaths is always hard. |
