4. Shooting at firemen is nothing new:

http://everything2.com/title/1968+Chicago+Race+Riot

When Martin Luther King was shot, it was immediately recognized as the spark that would set off another round of violence in 1968. In the wake of the assassination there were 2,600 fires and 21,270 injuries nationwide. By noon on the day after the shooting groups of young black people had gathered throughout the city. The violence began with smashed store windows and looting; arson and sniper attacks soon followed. By 2:00 p.m. the governor had dispatched over 600 members of the Illinois National Guard and Mayor Daley had sent out the entire Chicago fire department and borrowed fire departments from eight suburbs. Fires raged throughout the city, completely engulfing many black neighborhoods. Power lines to the predominantly black West Side were now dead, leaving that part of the city in darkness, and giving cover and encouragement for more looting.

As the violence entered its second day, Mayor Daley began to try and take back the city. 1,500 more National Guardsmen were put on the streets. A 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew was imposed on people less than 21 years of age. Liquor sales were banned in areas with "serious disorder." Troops patrolled the city in jeeps and military deployments guarded every intersection on the West Side. That night was much quieter, but far from tranquil. Molotov cocktails were still being thrown, buildings were still being torched, and snipers were still shooting at firemen.

16. While both do

involve "shooting at firemen," one would be required to identify the contrast in contexts, in order to be able to pass even an introductory sociology course.

There's always a lame reason for why the shooter did what they did.

23. No.

Bullets weight more than casings, so it's the casings that launch off ... And not particularly fast.

The big thing about a barrel is that it focuses the energy to the projectile.

14. D&C says 3 houses ablaze now...

http://www.democratandchronicle.com/article/20121224/NEWS01/312240026/webster-shooting?odyssey=mod|breaking|text|Home

At least two Webster firefighters are dead, and three houses on Lake Road continue to burn after a gunman open fired on firefighters who responded to an early morning fire.

There are no active shooters at the scene, according to a news conference held by Sheriff Patrick O’Flynn.

The fire broke out at 5:45 a.m. at 191 Lake Road on the Irondequoit Bay side of the street.

The gunman open fired on the first firefighters to respond, striking one in the backside. Strong Memorial Hospital confirmed another firefighter was being treated, but it is not clear if he was shot or injured in the fire.

Webster Fire Marshal Rob Boutillier said it is not clear how many other firefighters were hit.

Or is this the work of some irresponsible dick not keeping their ammunition secured in a fireproof safe?

Ammo -- rifle and handgun -- in a fire isn't particularly deadly. Thank goodness.

25. Ammunition cooking off is not particularly dangerous.

I've was struck by a .45 round at a fire and my turnout coat was enough to stop it without any harm to me.
Now large amouts of gun powder cooking off is extremely dangerous.

Shifting nomenclature...at least we also got rid of all the poor people. Or I haven't heard any politicians talk about poor people, anyway, except for Romney saying they had the safety net.
