I just bought a car. It's a semiautomatic.
Instead of being able to step on the gas and go...I have to shift from park first. Really slows me down. I'm only able to plow through 30 pedestrians rather than 60.

1. I cannot believe the kind of anti-car BS you're having to put with!
|
That is un-American!
I bet you had to have a background check, too, like maybe a credit check, just to buy the thing. Um =============== |

2. Yup. They even make me take a test to prove I know how to use it safely AND
|
They make me register it. I use this car to advertise me ideologies on a giant placard rigged to the roof. The fact that they make me go through this is infringing on my 1st Amendment rights, GODDAMMIT!!!

And pay for car insurance in case I injure someone while driving. I keep telling my insurance company, cars don't crash, people do. The said that's a stupid argument.

Of course I took my guns to protect me when driving on Hwy 101 today because as you know, cars kill more people annually than firearms..

15. You Forgot The Sarcasm Smiley
|
Because you're really not seriously comparing two things when one is specifically meant to do damage and other is not. One has the potential to do damage, the other was invented for, and underwent design improvements specifically do do more damage.
But, i just KNOW you're being sarcastic. |

7. I hope you paid insurance for that since collisions cost victim's and taxpayers med. bills, etc..
|
I want to know exactly how much in tax dollars someone's right to bear "ARMS" is COSTING ME. How much are firearms costing us regarding police hours, gov't mental health care and therapy, prosecutor hours, government vehicles and insurance, gas, police health and injury paid leave, vehicle repairs, prison food, prison clothes, chains, water, court costs, judges salaries, district attorney pay, prison heat & electric, other court employees, jailer costs, court heating & electric, public defenders, hospitalization, welfare to victim's families, property liability insurance, coroner fees, cremation fees and other associated costs relating to gun crime?? I'm guessing the NRA isn't going to bring it up because the costs are way too much per person just so that some idiot can own an automatic or semi-automatic or repeating rounds weapon. Call your Congressman and demand an economic study on the costs! Do it now to keep your tax dollars from protecting some crazy neighbor's "right" to own an Uzi. Gun owners are lazy cowards simply looking for what kills the easiest. If "knives are as dangerous" , then go hunt with a knife. Oh, and good luck to you with that. |

...whereas, the vast majority of motor vehicle deaths are the result of accidents.

LENCO planetary drag racing transmission - Uses the clutch to start from a standstill, but is shifted without the clutch, at full power. There is no "PARK", and any "Neutral" is in the reverse gear section (4th lever). |

14. A vehicle that has to be built to national safety standards from tires to roof
|
With saftey of the public as the main goal virtually every system in that car is regulated as to make it less dangerous to both its occupants and to anyone else who comes in touch with it. It starts at the tires, continues through the sheetmetal and computer controls and even effects what fumes come out the car's several vents and exhausts. We regulate the hell out of how cars are built and how they are designed.

17. But you have to license and register your car, and pass a driving test before you're legally able to
|
drive. And you have to carry liability insurance to cover damages cause by your car, even if it is stolen from you and used on such a rampage by someone else. Also, the purpose of a car is for transportation. The purpose of a semi-auto assault rifle is only killing human beings. Your analogy is a failure. |

19. Hi everyone! Merry Christmas! About my post...
|
I was drawing a crude analogy between full auto vs. semiauto guns and a hypothetical comparative car in full auto and semiauto to make the point that semiautomatic weapons especially with large magazines can be virtually as deadly as full auto; therefore, the semiauto handguns, long guns, etc. should all be tightly regulated.
At least as much as cars are if not more. |
