89. Excellent idea!

There should be a mandatory gun safety tax on guns AND ammo. Levy fees like we do on vehicles annually for registered guns - throw those in jail that are found to be keeping unregistered firearms. Use part of these fees to provide and insurance that would pay for medical care and reparations to victims and families of gun incidents.

anything but get the guns. Raise taxes, register those with mental health issues, put an armed guard at every public place - everything but get the guns.

Seriously - Asa Hutchinson here in AR and LaPierre are all saying they want the federal government to pay for it.

They're all revealing themselves for the madmen they really are.

8. What polls are you referring to?

It seems pretty fast for a poll on LaPierre's speech to be conducted, in fact I don't think a poll could be conducted on this speech even if it was within the proper time frame because not enough Americans would have heard it to get valid results.

Please cite the polls on LaPierre's speech that suggest Americans agree with LaPierre's stance. You may find individual proposals such as police officers in schools get substantial support in polling, but LaPierre's speech as a whole? No way in hell would LaPierre's position be embraced by the majority.

the Post spent most of its life, since Alexander Hamilton started it, as an intellectual alternative to other media and became famously liberal under Schiff.

Alas, Dolly Schiff was the last liberal owner, and it has fallen on hard times, intellectually nd financially, since.

He winds the key on your back, pats you on the but and sends you out to say stuff like that - knowing all the while you will have identified yourself as, well, what he's made you - and he laughs at you. Then he sells you overpriced air-mattresses and silly little bags of tea. How sad.

Please help kick the thread to the front page

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10022055101

Half of American homes do not have guns, yet we are at terrible risk from the lethal weapons in our neighbors' homes. Enough! Time for us to speak out.

That's why I created a petition to The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama, which says:

"Repeal the Second Amendment Now. This anachronistic, poorly worded amendment prevents us from passing real gun control measures that will be effective in stopping the ongoing gun slaughter. It should be no more a constitutional right to own a gun than to own a car."

Will you sign my petition? Click here to add your name:

By the time LaPierre insisted on a national database of the mentally ill, one could be forgiven for wondering whether it should include the paranoid, delusional man himself, because his description of people “so possessed by voices and driven by demons that no sane person can possibly ever comprehend them” surely fits the hard core of the NRA.

I agree with Charlie Pierce (Esquire) - we need to forget about the NRA and go right after the gun manufacturers themselves. They are the ones who pay the NRA.

I want the gun industry to become the next tobacco industry.
