Teresa Heinz Kerry - substance free observation

Something went wrong in Botox, or perhaps recovering from Bells Palsy. Stroke aftermath?

In the presentation of nomination to SS of John Kerry (Yea!), her face remarkably immobile.

Not germane to the event at ALL, but it startled me.

2. She's fairly emotionally short circuited & single-handedly killed my enthusiam in Campaign '08

Not that it affected my support and vote for JK. But she alone of any national Dems was penciled in to do a campaign rally in my area, and there was a great group of super enthusiastic Dems. For an hour and a half before she got here the crowd was revved up, without needing the warming up of the Dem congress critters and local pols, we were just BURSTING with enthusiasm.

Finally, she was introduced, and the crowd went wild(ER). Well, across the stage marched this person, like she was trudging, and she carried a sheaf of her speech, apparently she thought this event was supposed to be a professorial dictate from on high. The crowd kept cheering our lungs out past, apparently, when she thought we should shut up so she could start, and finally she lifted her gaze and peeped over her spectacles, like, she didn't know what strange zoo animals were in front of her. When we settled down to listen, she proceeded to read page after page of a deadening dissertation. When it was all over, the crowd dispersed listlessly in HUGH letdown mode.

The NY Post's wingnut gossip columnist, oldest-person-named-"Cindy" ADAMS, who swims both political sides of the cocktail circuit habitually name-drops her high profile chums, from both the PATAKI side and the CUOMO side, and Mrs HEINZ (I think she preferred her previous husband) is one of the ones who has sat on Cindy's apartment floor and played with the Yorkshire Terriers, Jazzy and jerky or whatever the other ADAMS doggie's name is.

Anyway, Ms HEINZ-KERRY has NO charisma or connection at all.

5. but she does great work

She has dedicated lots of her husband's money to advancing our knowledge of environmental causes of illness and promoting women in science to study these things. Hardly anyone examines the issues her organization does because it brings the weight of our largest corporations down on them. She has my respect.

7. Thanks for that. It was clear that she was an issues person, but a campaign needs some cheerleading,

too, and a lot of times the cheerleading/charisma can be the winning icing. When prominent people get to that level of politics, they really ought to have some savvy about that part or at least get their money's worth in hiring people to coach.

9. This is ridiculous

It was clear that she was an issues person, but a campaign needs some cheerleading, too, and a lot of times the cheerleading/charisma can be the winning icing. When prominent people get to that level of politics, they really ought to have some savvy about that part or at least get their money's worth in hiring people to coach.

This is the same kind of nonsense people spewed when attacking Michelle Obama before the President's first election.

It's your opinion, but it's not a fact.

15. Wow. Yes, it's my opinion, as are 99.9% of the things posted on this internet discussion board, and

I have agreed with yours and Rec'd them a whole lot and doubtlessly will continue to. But while opinions might be less scientifically provable than "facts," some opinions are worth more than others.

I'm a bit plussed that the edge on your reply is more toward vociferousness than just passionate commitment. I save that degree of negative heat for our enemies. Ms HEINZ-KERRY is in the big leagues and should be able to take constructive, albeit withering, criticism. I don't see that it is anything diminishing of her intellectual and financial contributions to say that she isn't profoundly charismatic. As to the other poster, below, (I'm not going to prolong this by replying to every post) who met her personally and found her to be very warm -- well, I'm much better one on one, myself. My whole commentary was about a campaign rally. As for the snark from somebody else about pom poms, uh, it's all about knowing the difference between a campaign rally and a campus lecture hall. I saw Ted KENNEDY at a rally, and he BELTED HIS GUTS OUT, is there a problem?!1

As for your gratuitously taking my comments that were specifically about HEINZ-KERRY and spreading things over to Michelle OBAMA (or anybody else) -- which was your opinonated choice to do -- I've seen plenty of intelligent commentary on policy from her, but at least 60% (to put a scientific quantifying on things) of her performances have been of the common touch variety. And she hasn't been confused about who was running for president. And apparently her contribution to keeping the energy up is part of the reason she is now First Lady.

Be on the look out for my K&Rs of your posts, not that there's any quid pro quo!1

3. I've seen her several times up close and personal, she often has a solemn look on her face.

Nothing unusual today.

6. "Nothing unusual today." Actually,

Kerry was nominated to something so it's time for progressives to bash his wife RW style.

12. Not intended as. "Bash"

More of a worrisome observation. Admire her philanthropic work and smarts, but she looks afflicted with something other than age and BC survival. Apologize if seemed too flippant.

Again, not substantive or germane to event referenced.

10. Born in 1938, lived abroad, didnt move to the US until 25 yrs later, English not her native tongue

Imagine that situation and that you had to speak publicly in today's media-insane political atmosphere in a language that is not your native one in a culture to which you were not born.

Anyone who is smart would be pretty intimidated by that, because the potential for a miscue is high.
