See this film if you are serious about creating fundamental CHANGE.

#!

Don't waste a lot of time; it's in limited release... probably only major cities and maybe university towns.

I saw it last nite. It's electrifying.

It's not just a "how to survive a plague" manual but also a "how to move a hostile, complacent, brain-dead governmental bureaucracy" guide. Lessons learned here that are applicable to a MYRIAD of contemporary situations.

For those of you who are completely new to this:

The setting in NYC in the early-mid eighties thru the mid nineties. A bunch of brainy, and exceptionally creative people....driven ( and united ) by a medical death sentence... throw-out the political "rule book" for politely petitioning their gov't reps ( hint: because they realize that THAT DOESN'T WORK) ... and take their personal and political destiny in hand.

Results?......Mixed. Mostly good. That's all I'll say. Watch the film.

Trust me on this one, progressive DUers. SEE IT.

1. Another excellent source is Randy Shilts' book

And the Band Played On"
which documents how the epidemic was politicized and who took advantage of it.
I just replaced my older worn out copy.
The movie of the book did not go into as many details of chicanery.

2. Shilts' book is seminal. I was going to ask you if "Plague" was playing in Seattle...

... but I see you're al Ala. now. (!)

My guess is it will be hard to see down there. But there's Netflix. ( If Netflix will carry it.)

Thanks for rescuing this thread from oblivion.

We...as a party... seem to have truly entered into the Age of Obama with the last election.

3. I wil be able to get my hands on a copy, never fear.

I have gay relatives in Wa and Ca. who will surely get a copy, and if that fails, there is always the inter-tubes.
Since we live in a far out rural area, I would miss out on important films without the internet and Du-ers like you.
