10. I'm glad someone else feels that way.

I used to like them when they first came out, then they were everywhere like pod people. I actually started pining for the velvet Elvises.

19. Kinkade played on cheap sentimentality

he painted, or had his staff, paint nothing but pretty pictures which does not equal art

17. Unpopular opinion.... I like his art. It's kind of like Martha Stewart...

By that I mean to say, I know it's over-the-top and extremely manipulative, and yet there's an undeniable charm to it all. Also, they both have the quality that makes you think that their work is derivative, that's it been done before. But then you think some more, and you realize it never has.

20. I think that's fine. Each to their own and all that

but I have to say that the charm of his stuff is utterly deniable for me. In fact, it gives me the willies. I look at those glowing houses and see corruption and by that I mean the worm in the apple. It's something about the unnatural light I think. It just gives me the creeps. As for MS, she makes no claims to be an artist.

26. It's odd, and it reminds me of "contemporary Christian music"

Even though there's no explicit religious content in the paintings, and often little in the songs, there's something about the texture that just screams "by and for Protestants" to me.

it discusses his faith and his familybut of course it fails to mention that he kept a mistress on the side and was accused of groping several women over the years and the fact that he was a drunk

33. I like his art.....with that said....

....everyone and their mother having one of his pieces from his signature series, limited series, limited signature series and the picture is exactly the same only a change in "stamp"....decided, I really didn't want to buy something so mass produced. Instead I got a couple of pieces depicting different scenes in Yosemite. One is a giclee reproduction but I know full well there is only going to be less than 250 of them...and not 250,000. The other....is an original I purchased from the artist....the paint was literally still wet when I bought it. I know I have the only damn copy.
