Newtown gunman Adam Lanza may have wanted to join Marines or other military
Troubled gunman Adam Lanza once considered joining the Marines, a demanding career that his mother ultimately decided wouldn’t be the right fit her antisocial son, a family friend claims.

She added that Nancy Lanza “squashed” the possibility of serving his country when she reminded her son that he “didn’t like to be touched” — something that he couldn’t avoid if he were injured. 1. If the reports about congenital analgesia are true he wouldn't have been let in

They can find a way to work around a lot of conditions, but inability to feel pain is absolutely not something you want in a Marine.

5. You can see this kid, and this mother, casting about for anything
|
that would give this kid a solid future. Sad that the family wasn't intact and speaking to each other--both mom and killer needed support.

7. "Considered"? That's it? That's a news story?
|
It's not as if he was pestering a recruiter, or so much as filled out an application, just "considered".
I guess there wasn't any real news, and someone needed to fill column space. |
