Parties change and elites don't get it

You want them to get it? Sorry to say it, but until we have generalized unrest, a national strike, or mass civil disobedience...they will not listen.

You knw why we got social security to begin with?

They don't mostly teach this in schools, less you get ideas...civil unrest and strikes.

That is what is going to take, and that is why the elites fell on Occupy like a bad dream.

1. I'm in agreement..........

There's no way we're going to "vote" our way out of this theft.

2. Exactly! Just looking at history, and I'm no expert, but it seems change generally

does not come about because, well, that was the right thing to do for the positive ... generally IMO change for the positive only comes about after a cataclysmic event, catastrophes ... considerable unrest, massive push back, major strikes and the like. And you are exactly correct, there was a massive push to tarnish, discredit and destroy OWS by a centralized attack on OWS by DHS and the like. It was a threat to the elite ... and $$$$$ loves $$$$$ and crosses all sorts of political boundaries.

3. I seem to recall

that it wasn't so much the elites who came down on Occupy, but the cops at the direction of local government. The same cops who so many here are advocating be the only ones to possess firearms.

4. Who do you think the cops were working for

And who do you think coordinated much of it?

6. Follow the money

A lot of the Occupy pushback came from the Media too, and you know who owns that.

The idea of a faceless revolution is the scariest thing for the elites- no leaders to corrupt or shoot, no way to frame the dialogue and it grows as it moves.

7. Then why

does everyone want to ensure that the police are the only ones with guns?

8. That's a seperate but related issue

A lot of DU thinks that if the police and the military are the only ones who have guns, they'll be more safe.

I read my history books- the worse people to have guns are those two groups.

I'm not one of the supporters of 2nd amendment repeal- Jefferson is one of the founders I like, and he says that we have to water the tree of liberty now and then. The people who thing we can do otherwise are the ones who don't value the liberty tree.

5. We have done almost everything else, and nothing is working...

So, yes, a general strike is the answer.
