1. Yes... we've lost some wonderful DUers over the years, but Kephra remains in my frequent thoughts

2. Indeed.

I think he was the first person to get 10,000 posts on the board.

I think it took him about 3 weeks.

9. Khephra was probably the main reason I became a DU regular.

Back before DU, I had a logon at Freeperville and they actually let me stay a while even though I put in my profile I was mostly liberal. I saw them mention a new Democratic message board was going up, DU. I checked it out when it opened, but wasn't that impressed because there weren't many posters. Freeperville, at the time, had lots of posters so you almost always heard breaking news before it showed up on CNN etc. After a while, I checked back at DU and suddenly the breaking news there was way better than FR. That was almost all due to Khephra.

His mom posted on DU after his passing about how much DU meant to him. I think Khephra meant a lot to DU as well.

13. I'm not often "taken aback" by people, Kephra was an exception in so many ways. A rare individual.

11. He was the King of LBN.

It's never been as good as when he ruled it.

17. Indeed. I am glad I had the chance to meet him at a DU gathering.

However, I have to note in a period of high conflict at DU, in another period of high conflict (and frequent insults), he explained to me why he had to take a break from DU. The primary wars in 2004 became very harsh. Keph came to feel so personally insulted that he took a break.

I raise this because at times the oldtimers here can indulge in "golden years" type reminiscing. Even Kephera, who gave so much time, kindness and insight, was affected by a period of extended contention. He knew when to take a break - such that he could later return into the full-fold. I have tried to remember that lesson.

That sentiment out of the way - and back to the topic:

I continue to miss Kephera, and appreciate having crossed his path many times here at DU.

19. That is very good advice. Even a few days away can be quite helpful. I have been trying that a

little lately and it works wonders on one's attitude.
