For The Gun Lovers Who Believe That They Can Overtake the U.S. Govt with their Guns

This is a predator drone. It will kill you before you are even aware of it. Your guns are no match for these drones. You cannot defeat the U.S. govt. in any sort of guerilla war fare.

1. Don't worry, i am sure the NRA has some drones of their own on the way.

Really, these people only want guns to shoot those "others" whom they imagine are coming to take their "stuff."

If society "collapses" is to git themselves some stuff.

"My money's no good so how about some hot lead instead?"

2. I always want to ask those people when they believe it becomes OK to shoot cops

Because that is essentially what they are arguing when they suggest they are going to turn their guns on the government, law enforcement is the government.

If the gun nuts are going to argue it is OK to use their guns against the government they need to explain to us when they believe it becomes morally acceptable to start shooting cops and other government officials.

9. Don't expect the expected. Right.

Assumptions aside who knows where an armed conflict would lead?

"If the gun nuts are going to argue it is OK to use their guns against the government they need to explain to us when they believe it becomes morally acceptable to start shooting cops and other government officials."

Why would you expect them to explain anything?

After 10 years. Because people who live in caves couldn't possibly take on the U.S. of A.

and the coalition has a limited amount of resources there.

Taking on the USA in the USA would be a different matter.

14. It depends on the political will and the public mood.

The number of weapons in civilian hands is not that important initially.

In Iraq I assume most of the weapons came from the military weapons caches that were looted and also from disgruntled police officers and soldiers when the military and police force was disbanded by the CPA. Once law and order breaks down then weapons also flow in from other countries.

As for Afghanistan, that's been on a war footing for the last few decades and again weapons flow in from other countries in the region.

24. All Comparisons Between Iraq and Afghanistan Are Inapt

The U.S. govt has to fight those wars and win public support at the same time.

The more apt comparison is the U.S. Civil War. The North decimated the South. Sherman's march was fucking brutal. Imagine that one a much larger scale with far superior weaponry.

"But that's their own country."

And a lot of different places in the USA are "their own country" as well.

I bet you might know of a lot of places that would make a good place to hide and move out from.

Never expect anything to be easy especially conflict.

21. Oh, Please.

The U.S. can find and kill anyone it wants to, esp. within its own borders. Are you kidding me?? You cannot hide in the U.S. and launch an armed revolution against the govt. It's silly to think so.

16. Uh...We're Not Fighting Those Wars At Full Capacity. We could do far more damage if we wanted to.

We have to be careful to not alienate the population of Afghanistan. That won't be the case if the U.S. is fighting a local insurrection.

But I swear, some of the gun nuts are so callous, and often bigoted , that I think it wouldn't bother them a bit.

8. Do you believe that one of these drones would have stopped

the Sandy Brook shooter?

As I wrote in another post, don't expect a gun lover to be stupid. There are plenty of ways to carry out a protracted war, and technology doesn't always work like it does in a movie.

BTW: How many innocent people have our drones killed abroad? I'll bet more than Sandy Brook.
What does that make us as a nation?

We reap as we sow.

My point is that owning guns so that you can launch a revolution against the govt. is folly. The govt. has vastly superior military tech. and can easily overtake a populace in armed revolt.

The last time the US was faced with a open revolt it took 4 years and 620k lives.

I wouldn't want to put it to the test, honestly.

12. Sufferance enhancement is fair check on overreach.

What profit is it in bombing away a large portion of the country?

Damage dealing ability doesn't translate to occupation ability nor do people who aspire to be a free people tolerate a state with forces capable of subjugating them by force and it isn't, not without decimating the population and lots of expensive infrastructure and "collateral damage".

Silly fuckers should be losing their shit to ban your vaunted drones but are trying to figure out how to be sheep.

A nation is its people.

26. Doubtful.

Insurgents would be civilians first and foremost, so they could be hiding anywhere. It wouldn't be like the Civil War where armies dutifully lined up to get shot.

Don't kid yourself. It would be a prolonged bloody mess.

Let's hope it never comes down to that in this country.

23. Doubt that would be the issue.

Military and LE tend to be pro-gun.

The underlying fallacy in this fantasy of waging an actual war to eradicate your political opponents is it assumes the people you pay to carry guns for you (to eliminate guns) will follow orders to fire on American civilians.

The last thing this country needs, or anybody wants, is a civil war.

24/7 coverage isn't that hard.

Plus this is one weapons system. We have a lot of others where an assault rife is utterly ineffective.

30. The Threat isn't the US Government !!

No, we do not fear the US military, we fear the Mexican Army who our government refuses to protect us from. Our government has a wide open door at the CA border with illegals passing through at will. Eventually the Mexican Army is going to take advantage of that and reclaim California. We must be prepared to defend ourselves when our own government refuses to do the job. That is why we have a 2nd.

"Who asked you to do that?"

I'm sure that the majority of Americans would rather not live under the interpretation of a Tea Bag constitution. The result will not be a sigh of relief that someone is "taking back their country" so much as a civil war.
