If Kerry Becomes SoS, at first I was thinking that Gov. Patrick should appoint a Kennedy

But who? Joe just won an election for congress critter and Patrick is in NH.

Maybe Mrs. Kerry should get the call? I think that she'd make a make a great candidate in the interim election.

She'd kick Brown's ass.

5. In MA there is no longer an appointment by the Gov; it goes to special elections

appointment only lasts until the special election is held.

For precedent, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_special_election_in_Massachusetts,_2010

6. yes, Romney screwed us again

when Romney was governor MA voters didn't want him to pick Kennedy's successor in the event Ted died while Romney was gov. So they changed the rules and what we got was Brown.

What we need to do is whatever we can to help them get a strong candidate because Brown will run and he is apparently pretty popular for a republican in MA.

9. Dont blame voters. They were not asked anything. Blame MA pols

who thought they were smarter than us. (and actually, it would have been Kerry's successor as it was done in 2004).

11. I sincerely did not understand your reply

And would be grateful for any additional insights you can share.

Why blame MA pols?

How did a senator, Kerry or his successor, influence this change in the election.

13. State politicians mostly, though Kennedy and Kerry as well as the Congressional delegation were

certainly listened to in this process. But the post I was answering to was blaming the MA voters. This was not changed by referendum, but by a vote in the MA House and Senate.

10. Romney screwed us??? HUH??? It was Kerry that changed the rule for himself in 2004

Blame Mitt for everything, but it was not his fault in 2004.
Also, Mitt proves a republican can win in Mass, as did Weld and Brown.

John Kerry who lost the Presidential election in 2004, had the rule changed so that Gov. Mitt wouldn't be able to name his successor when he wrongly thought/assumed he would win

It was all changed because of John.

The strongest candidate is Vicky Kennedy, who would be the single biggest name in Mass and the second biggest name in the country after Hillary once she won.

Can you imagine anything better than a Hillary/Vicky ticket in 2016?

And Vicky is 100% for major changes in gun laws and has been leading that for years.
She is not a Janey come lately like others.

And like Ted, she can get things done on all issues.

7. She votes in PA. But I'm fine with Markey.

(Since when is Patrick in NH?)

Dont worry. We'll find our candidate ourselves. Plenty of good people to choose from.

8. Vicky Kennedy should run in the special election, the interim can be someone older like Markey

who wouldn't run in the regular
That is what Deval said he would do.

BTW, Vicky can be President if they play it right, and she leads the way on gun control.

Instantly she would singlehandedly be the second strongest woman in politics after Hillary on all issues.

The Kennedy's passed the torch to Barack Obama and he can pass the torch back to the Kennedy's

Hillary45/Vicky46
What a ticket that can make in 2016
Then Vicky46 can be elected herself after

It makes one actually happy that the seat is becoming open should a Kennedy reclaim it

Vicky would kick Brown's ass.
A Kennedy knows how to win in Mass. Ask Mitt who lost big time to Teddy, thanks to Vicky.
