Dylan Hockley died in Anne Marie Murphy's (teachers aide) arms...

CT Post
By Tom Cleary
December 17, 2012

Staring down the barrel of a rifle, Anne Marie Murphy pulled Dylan Hockley close to her, trying to shield him from the hail of bullets that would kill them both.

Dylan, 6, had special needs, his family said Monday. And Murphy was his "amazing" aide, they said. He loved her, pointing happily to her photo on the Hockley's refrigerator every day.

Many heroes at that school. Many little angels too.

He couldn't be further WRONG!

God was there in Vicki Soto.

God was there in Anne Marie Murphy.

God was there in every act of love and self-sacrifice.

If that wasn't God, then any God that I'd call "God" just doesn't exist!

I cannot remember! Something about them being moochers, union thugs, lazy... They all attempted to sacrifice themselves for these children. I would wager that very few of those corrupt politicians would do the same! My daughter was a 2nd grade teacher before having a son with Downs Syndrome. Now she stays home. She was paid so little that her quitting did not change the finances much since she no longer paid a baby sitter for 2 children. She worked 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., plus extra when grading more tests, or updating lesson plans, or doing something special for the class. She paid out of pocket for most of her teaching materials b/c Texas is a joke for education. They are making Public Education so bad, parents will want their damn Charter schools and voucher crap. The greedy bastards only want to think about their own children and to hell with the rest! I am sick of this corrupt country. The next time I hear about the "American Exceptionalism" I think I will puke! The only things we excell in are greed, selfishness, and corruption!

stood up to the gunman and died protecting their students (many of whom were saved and will hopefully have full lives because of them), while the politicians who love to bash, trash and demonize them and their profession, and who've been gleefully stripping away their rights and what little salaries and benefits they had, cower and grovel before the NRA. I believe a sign at the anti-NRA rally at their D.C. headquarters on Monday said it best: "Teachers stand up to gunmen. Congress can't stand up to the gun lobby."

I grew up with teacher parents and was surrounded by educators, and I know that these angels were not an aberration, that it is what the vast majority of teachers would do for their students. I know my own parents would have. My mom taught at a juvenile reformatory for boys, where these kinds of situations were always possible, not to mention other less deadly but still dangerous situations and, during the times when she had a boy try to cause shit in class, didn't hesitate to protect the other students.

Why? I just can't believe this has happened. It is beyond tragic.

I am so sorry for all of them. It just breaks my heart to see all their faces and to see their funerals on television. I still can't get my mind around this.
