Fifteen hopeful, smiling faces beam at the camera for a school picture just a few months ago- a picture which could be from any class in any school in America.
But this is not just any picture of any class. It is the last class photograph of the group of Sandy Hook first graders who were wiped out in a hail of bullets on Friday by crazed gunman Adam Lanza.
There will never be a photo of their high school graduation. They will never be pictured at their prom. Tragically and inexplicably, these innocent children are now dead.
Clockwise from top left: Catherine Hubbard, Ana Marquez-Greene, James Mattioli, Grace McDonnell, Josephine Gay, Madeline Hsu, Chase Kowalski, unknown, Jack Pinto, Noah Pozner, Jessica Rekos, Daniel Barden, Charlotte Bacon, Benjamin Wheeler and Caroline Previdi

The religious hypocrites that blame this tragedy on a lack of God should be ashamed of themselves. The hypocrites should be cast down and if anyone should represent religion in America it should be true believers.

(904 posts)and God was there that day in the form of all the teachers and school personnel who performed heroic acts, giving their lives to protect and save those kids.
Anyone who uses this cheap, stupid argument does not have the love of God in their heart and shame on them.

(36,437 posts)She often wears the exact outfit (same shirt) as the little girl on the bottom left, who I believe is Jessica Rekos. She also has the same hair as that little girl. Unlike that unfortunate child, my daughter is sitting about eight feet behind me now, watching Phineas and Ferb and getting ready for school, where I will drop her off in about 30 minutes.
Each day brings new sadness. And fury.

(25,415 posts)There are just no words to describe how lucky I feel that I can hold my daughters, can still see them everyday. My heart aches for those parents. These children are just so young. I saw some of the local footage (I live in CT). Some of the friends of the boys that were buried yesterday talked about their memories. These are 6 and 7 year olds memorializing their friends. 6 and 7 year olds shouldn't have to do that.
