HOW YOU CAN EASILY CONTRIBUTE TO THE SANDY HOOK SCHOOL VICTIMS FAMILIES (SPREAD THE WORD)

Last edited Sun Dec 16, 2012, 07:53 AM - Edit history (1)

A former student of the school where the terrible tragedy occurred has started an online fund that will be used mainly for funerals and grief counseling. Also possibly some scholarships. The fund is already up to over $41,000. EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS. NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL. I donated yesterday. These families need not incur one single cent in cost over this terrible tragedy. The funds will be turned over the local Parent-Teacher Association which will make sure the funds are used for the stated purposes.

You can get to the site simply by Googleing "Crowdrise Sandy Hook Elementary School Victims Relief Fund."

Also, if you want to send a card and/or letter of sympathy, it can be sent to:

Newtown Public School District
3 Primrose Street
Newtown, CT 06470

(The Superintendent is Janet Robinson)

THANKS !

4. do they need money?

I thought this was a well off neighborhood.

I prefer asking my national representatives to ban assault weapons.

5. I agree

Why do we think if we just throw money at something, it will be all right and go away? These poor people have suffered terribly, but they all seem to have funds to continue the grieving process. What we need to do is give some effort and funds to gun control organizations. The children will not come back, but perhaps we can make sure it doesn't happen again to other children.

7. No one is saying that all they need is money. C'mon people. This is about making sure that these

families and this community get all the grief counseling they need for as long as they need without having to incur any costs, that there are absolutely no funeral costs to them, and also the idea of helping them with setting up scholarships for their survivors. There are HUNDREDS of people here, many of them children and the WHOLE families of the victims who need grief counseling. Food will be needed. Memorials will be needed. Maybe going forward new security measures will be needed. All of this costs. Let's help this community.

I am SHOCKED that someone would say, "Isn't the town already rich?" It is a town of 27,000 and by no means are all of them "well off."

There are MANY things that need to be done here. No one is saying otherwise. But financial support is certainly part of it.

As I also included, you can also send cards and letters of sympathy to the school district. I am sure everything will be appreciated.

10. I was not trying to offend

it is just that there are other things they need that we can not give them. I would think the best gift is tomake sure it does not happen again.

I know there are people sending sympathy cards and trying to be supportive, other people are forming prayer circles. We all do what we think is right. We are not in lock step, but each an individual mind with different beleifs. In this case, my belief is to do something that I would thope is more comforting lasting. you can think what you want and have just as much of a chance of being correct. There is no freeper hive mind here.

I would think the school and insurance would provide counseling, but the mind has to be ready to accept that, some people will fight it, others will accept. I really don't think there is much the public can do.

Maybe we can support other specific charites that might address mental illness or children's issues. Right now, I am working fora charity(not busy in the morning) that socializes children with disabilites, among them is autism. I just think sending money to these people is not the same as sending money to the hurricane Sandy charities where people lost everything.
