The NRA currently has Ted Nugent sitting on their Board of Directors, Nugent has advocated the assassination of Barack Obama on at least three seperate occasions yet the NRA continues to allow him to sit on their Board and speak for the organization.
You may view the three assassination threats made by Nugent below...
He first threatens both Hillary Clinton and Obama in this video...
He then stands by his comments here...
Then he goes on to make another threat and this time the NRA provides him the microphone to advocate assassination at their convention...
And what was the NRA's response to Nugent using their microphone to announce he would be dead or in jail if Obama got reelected?
This is what the NRA had to say about him on the official NRA blog the very same day he made those comments...

Can someone please explain to me why we allow a small number of DUers to post in support of an organization that gives an advocate of assassination a platform? We don't allow people to post in support of the Republican Party here, I find it absurd that we allow people to promote an organization that has a Board member who advocates the assassination of Obama.

(6,278 posts)there is a suggestion in Meta that we OCCUPY the gungeon....I went there and posted a bit- that place is full of these creeps and the few normal DU'ers are outnumbered.
I suppose we could post a petition to the admin- I would sign it!
Good OP, thanks for bringing this up!

(12,041 posts)The NRA bills themself as a gun safety organization, they need to be grilled on whether or not they think their board member is practicing proper gun safety himself. I want to see every NRA spokesperson grilled on whether they believe people like Ted Nugent who wave guns around in the air threatening to shoot Obama and Hillary should be allowed to own guns.

(23,156 posts)I mean, even if the NRA were a reasonable organization, which it is not, it's not okay to advocate assassinating the president. Any president. No matter who he is, what the party affiliation is, anything.
So why hasn't this man been picked up by the Secret Service?

(13,485 posts)besides the 1% who want to buy it, are the gun nuts who threaten to start a war or other insurrections of various kinds if anyone tries to make them follow the laws of the people. They want America to be the wild west of the 1860's and they don't care how they keep it that way.
The government of the people is standing between two monoliths, the wealthy 1% corporate barons and the fearful, mis-educated, arrogant, gun worshipers.

(239 posts)Little man Ted is a coward and a blowhard.
He had his chance to go to war in the 60s and he opted out in a typical warhawk's cowardly fashion, feigned insanity.

(17,175 posts)that they have no desire to be viewed as anything but in-your-face bad boys who like to go out of their way to antagonize people. This would be a perfect time for them to announce that they've probably scheduled their 2013 convention to be held in Danbury, CT -- just because they can, and what're you gonna do about it, huh? We're the NRA. We're badasses.
They've become the Hells Angels of advocacy groups (which I know is an unfair comparison, since the Hells Angels never even pretended to be respectable). It's sad that a once-worthwhile organization has been hijacked by loonies.

(2,650 posts)I concurred with you back in 2008 when you stated, If [Mr. Obama] tries to fool with my Beretta, hes got a problem, Nugent writes. I trust you still maintain those sentiments.
