Is it possible that Adam Lanza illegally purchased the guns in his mother's name?
I'm not familiar with procedure. Is it possible to use someone else's identity to buy a gun?

4. Multiple reports have said so

But early reports have a high error rate.

7. Yeah

We've all been burned by that reality.
I'm in shock - I suppose the reporters are too, so this time there could be some excuse for the confusion. |

3. Not practically

She may have bought them for him or for him to use. 21 is the age limit to buy pistols.

6. That would be the most blatant illegal sale

and purchase I've ever seen. So, not really. You can be sure the 4473s are in ATF's hands as we speak. If there is any doubt they will have been dusted for prints and submitted for handwriting analysis. The only one who'll be liable in that case would be the dealer.
Which is why I say it's not really possible. No dealer is gonna stick his neck out like that on paper for a kid. |

8. He may have purchased them illegally.
|
He couldn't buy them using his mother's name. I googled it - 18 yrs. old in CT to buy rifle, 21 to buy pistol.
I thought they said that they found his brother's id in the car or on his person, so who knows what happened. |
