A nation-wide $100 per bullet tax...

It's not that difficult to begin addressing this problem.
You don't have to change the constitution.
You don't have to get all "gun-grabby."
Just levy a tax of $100 per bullet.
It doesn't fix everything, and it's not a perfect solution, but it's a start.

14. no it isn't - $100 bullets are stupid

and you most likely don't know that.

4. How about registering all guns and requiring a license to

own a gun. I would also favor outlawing semi-auto guns and more than 6 rounds capacity.
Most gun owners are law abiding citizens that like to shoot or hunt. But the extremists in the NRA prevent any kind of sensible gun laws.

7. While that is most certainly the approach we will take...

...if anything is to change, what you just suggested is a huge pain in the ass logistically, compared to just taxing the shit out of the ammo. Besides, "criminals won't register their guns or get a license" but they will have to buy ammo.

But then we never take the simple approach in this country, we always have to over-complicate things on our way to doing them half-assed.

15. Taxing ammo is just not the way to go, it is expensive enough

as it is. Bought some .40 cal ammo a couple weeks ago it is 40 cents a round. All you would do is make it so about 50% of us wouldn't be able to hunt or target practice. I think some guns should be outlawed, high capacity magazines outlawed and all firearms sales should go through a licensed dealer and the proper checks made.

6. What About The Self Loaders

The ones who buy powder and casing and assemble the rounds themselves.??

9. Those are for shotguns, not rifles, IIRC. Not as amenable to mass killings.

to reload rifle ammo myself.

13. You made your own primers and powder?

The tax should actually be on the primer since that is the hardest component to make.

16. So only the one percent can buy ammo. That would be like over in

Europe where only the rich landlords could hunt or own guns.

18. Great, this thread is being taken over by gun-nutters...

Still waiting for the King of England to quarter troops in your house, are you?

$100 per bullet.
Fucking deal with it.

19. I am all for gun control and gun owner control but

making ammo too expensive for 99% of the people to buy doesn't make a lick of sense.

20. Oh. Well I learned something new today.

I happen to think the only ammo/guns the 2nd amendment should apply to would be muzzle loaders like the old muskets. We'd have a lot fewer mass shootings if that were the case.

21. I like to shoot black powder guns and it is actually sporting to

hunt with a muzzle loader or bow and arrow, be OK with me. It would be pretty hard to shoot 30 people with a muzzle loader. After all back in the day of the 2nd Amendment that was the state of the art in weaponry.

Don't over-think this.

They sure figured out a way to quintuple the price of cigarettes..Maybe we should set them on the bullet people
