Statement from Mark Kelly

Gabby Giffords' husband:

"As we mourn, we must sound a call for our leaders to stand up and do what is right. This time our response must consist of more than regret, sorrow, and condolence. The children of Sandy Hook Elementary School and all victims of gun violence deserve leaders who have the courage to participate in a meaningful discussion about our gun laws - and how they can be reformed and better enforced to prevent gun violence and death in America. This can no longer wait."

Amen.

3. As I said when he made his statement at the trial of his wife's assailant.

President Obama needs to use Mark Kelly as a national spokesperson to build support for meaningful legislation to address gun violence. I think he and his wife would be very effective advocates.

4. I've been thinking about Gabby all day..

K&R

..and wondering if she knew what happened. This is a National tragedy. Will there be some sort of National Memorial? PO is probably leaving that up to the families. Maybe a ceremony at the National Cathedral?

I think Boehner should stay clear of PO, because I know he's not in the mood to take any lip from Orange Julius. "Fiscal Cliff's" ass. What we need to be talking about is some sort of f-ing gun control. Them babies are not going to have Christmas now. Twenty. Babies.

Amen, that's right. That statement from Mark should be our fervent prayer for Christmas. Thank you for posting it.

8. This must be an awful day for victims of similar tragedies

Watching it happen all over again and knowing that nothing good has come of their terrible experience, absolutely nothing has been learned or prevented.
