Quibble. Wince. Cringe.

Just heard a professional broadcast journalist use the word "coronated." This was scant moments after another professional spoke about how a voter is "orientated" toward a certain candidate. A while back there was a sign, carried by a teacher, that read "Teachers Teach. Administrators Administrate."

Dad would have made us write the word "crowned" 500 times, and he'd have grounded us until we were properly "oriented"; we'd have been disowned for repeated egregious failures to "administer" the English language with appropriate care.




Yeah, I know, picky picky picky. But sheesh.

amusing article that was in the Daily Fail a week or so ago, attention to those details means you have officially reached middle age!

I'm right with you - words are a terribly thing to waste in such an egregious fashion.
