What do most believe should be our gun laws?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by HappyMe (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Should we ban all guns? Just hand guns and automatic weapons? Hand guns and certain sized magazines? I'm curious. I'm from Wisconsin where hunting, of course, is huge. I am a teacher who is not a hunter and does not own a gun. Many of my teacher friends are die hard union, oppose Walker and are big Obama supporters. They are Democrats through and through. But they hunt. Every year they start talking weeks in advance about there annual trip to the woods. They have multiple guns, mostly rifles or shotguns. They would never vote to eliminate guns. They might eliminate handguns, although I know at least two, one being the hardest working union Democrat I know, carries a handgun into the woods with him to protect against bears and wolves. He would never vote for most of the gun laws that are being proposed although he would never support concealed carry.

So again, what would you ban and how would you get him on your side.

1. The last legal consensus was set in the 1930s

In the National Firearms Act. The consensus is that civilian weapons must be:

1. .50 caliber or smaller
2. Semi-automatic or slower
3. Handguns, rifles, or shotguns

We set those lines legislatively and can move them legislatively, but I don't see much national will to do so (or, frankly, much good that moving them would do, but I could be wrong).

2. Gun laws should be tied firmly to laws covering the pre-born.

No baby should be born who isn't packing.
