BIG MONEY being made off this one - Mayan apocalypse: panic spreads as December 21 nears

Let's see, how many times has the world ended by now ...

The Mayan have the best statement!

Mayans themselves reject any notion that the world will end. Pedro Celestino Yac Noj, a Mayan sage, burned seeds and fruits to mark the end of the old calender at a ceremony in Cuba. He said: "The 21st is for giving thanks and gratitude and the 22nd welcomes the new cycle, a new dawn."

Meanwhile in Mexico, where the ancient Mayan civilisation flourished, the end time has been seen as an opportunity. The country has organised hundreds of Maya-themed events, and tourism is expected to have doubled this year.

1. Well, my birthday is the 20th. I suppose if the world ends on the 21st, at least I got the b-day

celebration in.

I'm not worried about it.
It reminds me of those people on the show "Doomsday bunkers". Those people have WAY too much time on their hands.

2. It's kind of sad

that the governments of countries where the remaining Mayans live are marketing this event but the Mayans themselves are getting little or nothing from the gains made. They aren't too happy about it either.

7. One thing I've reluctantly learned, and sadly, is there will always be profiteers for the

good of it or the bad.

3. Dammit!! Why am I such a procrastinator...?

after all the knuckleheads paid big bucks for Y2K survival goods- I thought that it would be a good idea to get into the business to do the same thing with the Mayan calendar crowd...But- I never got off my butt, and now it's too late. Again.

maybe it's the weed...?

4. Yeah, I was thinking the same, at least get into selling some crystals or magnetic bracelets

to ward off the Mayan end of the world ...

And here I sit ...

8. Well as long as it doesn't end during finals that would suck.

I will have my grades by then so I don't care all that much.

10. Well if the world is going to end my granddaughter and I are going to make cookies and cakes

for christmas gifts. Either way we will be making memories of some sort I guess. But I know we will be ready to make the christmas day run with gifts.

11. I'm spending this month watching (and laughing at) all the many 2012 films on

Netflix - mostly very silly documentaries, but there is also the fictional movie 2012, that has the whole "giant ships floating across the flooded Himalayas" thing going on.

17. It's simple

If you are stupid enough to believe in conspiracy theories and the coming end of the world, you don't need money.

19. We decided to have a party and serve appropriate dishes to pass.

My girlfriend said she was bringing Chitzen Itza Pizza.

Wish I could think up something as clever. Any suggestions??
