My Heart Breaks....

For the child who wakes up hungry every day and goes to sleep hungry every night. Thanks gop for cutting food stamps and school lunch programs.

For the elderly who struggle to survive on fixed incomes and have to worry about medical benefits and social security being cut. Thanks gop for causing them more stress and worry.

For the veterans who sacrifice everything and get treated like shit when they come home because they were 'lucky' enough to survive.
Thanks gop for wanting to cut their benefits.

For all the downtrodden who are treated like second class citizens. Gays, working poor, disabled, anyone who's looked down upon because 'they're not like us'. Thanks gop for your 'christian' values.

For this country that has lost it's soul. Where money is king and everything/everyone else is nothing.

This is not politics, this is cruelty.

Soft sad empathetic rant over.

that 'Christian' comes from Christ.

The more you talk about Jesus, the less you actually have to act like him.

3. so much misery there is in the world...

.....and all due to the human trait of greed. The root of all evil.

Just imagine if all the energy that is spent grubbing for the bare necessities -- shelter, food -- could be spent on life-affirming activity. Imagine a day where people were free to create, or learn, or work in tasks that were not soul-killing?

4. K&R

Many of the right wing population don't know about some of these things or have been lied to by right wing media. It's now a yearly Fox tradition to trot out that ridiculous "War on Christmas" nonsense like a big box of ornaments, all designed to divide and distract the manipulated masses from the theft of this country's wealth and resources.

13. The right does act like a bunch of

non critical thinkers, for sure. They get all the 'ideas' from the faux zip drive. They are a wild bunch of idiots. They need to go to another country or planet.

I've been trying to vote them out. Oregon didn't turn blue until 2008, fighting like hell to keep it that way.

Can't they be impeached for incompetence instead?

Very sad. The beginning of massive homelessness began when raygun closed up the mental hospitals. It's been all down hill since then.

27. I am there with you.

I am doing my predoctoral at a homeless shelter. The majority of my clients are older women. As a Spanish speaker, I've been assigned to provide therapy to the Hispanic residents . My heart breaks every time that I listen to their stories . As a new therapist I started with the idea that I was going to teach them the tools to learn to deal with whatever behavior they were dealing with. However, after 7 months there, I have learned so much from them. Some call me a teacher, some call me "my intern", and some others call me Dr. Mercy . All of them are precious to me. They live at the shelter and they are grateful for it , even though the future may seem uncertain to them as they can be transferred to a different setting if they can't take care of themselves . By listening to their stories, I've learned that almost all of them were living " a paycheck away from disaster." And yes, disaster struck. However, they are grateful. Some have gone through so many hoops to get their retirement money because they are not at their retirement age and they don't qualify. They would like to get the income to buy food ( the food at the shelter sometimes can be , well, very unappealing) and to buy items they need for personal care . It is a beautiful setting, but for me is such a lonely place to be . However, as them... I am also grateful for them and the way they have opened to me.

Your post really touched me , and for that I am also grateful.
