Support Congressman Ted Deutch’s & Sen. Mark Begich's efforts at SS reform
Both have introduced legislation in their respective bodies that would not decrease benefits for current and future generations and would eliminate the payroll tax cap.
Sen. Mark Begich's bill, S. 3651, has been read twice and refered to the Senate Finace Committee. It currently does not have any co-sponsers. Congressman Ted Deutch's bill, which I have not been able to find a bill number for yet, is very similar. So far, I've e-mailed and called both of my Senators, Levin & Stabenow, and asked them to seriously consider co-sponsoring Senator Begich's bill. I've heard nothing back from Senator Levin and did get a generic e-mail back from Senator Stabenow. This does not surprise me as I imagine both are very busy responding to requests from citizens from all over Michigan. On the House side, I've e-mailed and called my congressman, Dr. Benishek, and did get a letter in reply. The letter, which I talked about in an OP, discusses the main points of Senator Begich's bill. I did not know of Congressman Ted Deutch's efforts at the time I contacted my own representative.

1. That's great.

I didn't know there were bills in both houses. Can you post the text of the email you sent for those of us who are too lazy and too inarticulate to craft our own?

2. I'd have to post the text from memory.

I used the e-mail function at their websites and it didn't save nor did I think to save it to notepad and then to documents before sending it.
