If a Tree Falls My thoughts...
I watched the documentary If a Tree Falls: A Story of the Earth Liberation Front. In the film, they followed the sentencing of one guy, Daniel G. McGowan. My thoughts:
Is this guy an asshole? Yes.
Is he a criminal? Yes.
Does he deserve to be locked up for what he did? Fuck, YES.
Does he deserve to be handed down a terrorism enhancer, and thus be locked up in a limited communication supermax prison? NO. Leave that place for fuckers who actually kill people or threaten federal judges or witnesses. Locked up, this guy's a threat to nobody. Why not just put him in general population or in a medium or minimum security federal facility? All the Feds are doing by keeping him in that supermax facility is making him a fucking martyr to hes fellow ELF nutbags.
