Florida man uses pit bull to babysit 10-month-old while he goes into bar

PALM COAST, Florida (AP) - A Florida man is charged with child neglect after allegedly leaving his 10-month-old baby in the care of his pit bull while he went to a bar.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office says 41-year-old James Irvine of Palm Coast was arrested early Saturday.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the child's mother called police after learning Irvine left the baby alone while he went out to drink. She was at work at the time.

A police report says he told her the "pit bull was watching the baby." The child was in his bedroom with the door shut when she came home. A deputy reported the dog was sitting outside the room.

34. Is it a female pit bull with a recent litter? Nursing wouldn't' be entirely out of the question.

Are cows that much closer relations to us than dogs?

This is DEFINITELY a case of the dog being smarter than the Dad, at least the dog was there positioned by the door.

16. The pit bull might have been friendly.

Like stated earlier, it sounds like the dog was a better father than the baby daddy.

Nevertheless, dogs are not babysitters.

Still a bad choice for babysitter. Hope they throw the book at this creep.

19. Was it the bar section of Olive Garden?

ROFL

I don't think the fact that it was a pit bull is significant. If he'd left the baby alone at all, or alone with any dog, while he went out, I'd be equally disgusted.

21. A Florida man using a pit bull to babysit his 10-month-old walks into bar and

starts rambling on about how lousy a wife he's got, until the bartender finally says: "You know, I don't understand what you're complaining about. All the other guys in here only have compliments about your wife."
