Hospital employee found dead after prank call on Catherine

London (CNN) -- An employee at the hospital that was duped by a prank call from two Australian radio DJs concerning Prince William's pregnant wife, Catherine, has apparently committed suicide, the hospital confirmed Friday.

The employee, a member of the nursing staff, "was recently the victim of a hoax call," King Edward VII Hospital said in a media statement.

The DJs impersonated Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles in the prank call, in which some details of the Duchess of Cambridge's condition and care were given.

Audio of the call posted online suggested a receptionist spoke briefly to the DJs, who host a show for the 2Day FM radio station in Sydney, before the call was put through to a nurse.

4. Here's one to a different source.

A nurse at the private hospital which treated the Duchess of Cambridge has been found dead in a suspected suicide two days after being duped by a prank call from Australian radio DJs.

The hospital, which has paid tribute to "a first class nurse", named the woman as Jacintha Saldanha

<snip>

An ambulance was called to the hospital this morning where she was found unconscious.

Paramedics made efforts to revive her but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sad. No matter if it's related to the incident or not.

15. I wonder why a hospital needs to call an ambulance

Seems odd. Maybe it is just poorly worded.

16. It's an error in the writing.

She wasn't actually found at the hospital, at an address 'near' the hospital. Or so it's being reported in The Guardian.

6. Or perhaps she'd already been dealing with other issues

and something like this pushed her over the edge.

9. Could be...but reminds me of that guy who was trashed about WMD by Blair

and the press then committed suicide...seemed very suspicious and all the talk about previous issues was simply talk.

My gut reaction is some whacko who thought the nurse had harmed Kate in some way.

10. Do the pranksters

get any share of the blame for this? imho, the ones who made the call should not be held completely responsible.

11. Here is a link to more info

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-207_162-57557775/nurse-in-duchess-kate-hoax-dead-in-apparent-suicide/

And, I do feel that the prank callers deserve a great deal of the blame. If fact, I hope they are fired.

I know that sounds harsh, and I am not usually one to be that way. But, this makes my blood boil!!

17. No they aren't. Not in the least.

They said and did nothing that was cruel or bullying or anything of the sort.

This is no different than the guys who prank called Palin in 2008 (but they actually got through to her).

13. How does a prank call lead to suicide?!?! Weird.

The nurse must have been a severely troubled person.

14. It was not a particularly vicious prank call

There are some prank calls made by DJs where you just want to strangle them for their cruelty. This was not one of those.
