1. Depends on the cash offered

sometimes contract positions can be very lucrative in the short term.

2. Depends. Had a couple interesting and lucrative contracts,

Need to find permanent how quickly? Ability to continue to look while on contract? Useful for resume? Need for immediate $$$?

3. If the money's decent, take the contract position.

Although you have less time to look for a job when you're working, a lot of places won't even consider you if you're not employed.

4. If you contract.

Are you actually going to buy insurance with the extra money? I definitely wouldn't want to be caught without health insurance these days. That could be a disaster. Find out how much you would actually pay and what you would get.

And remember, you also have to pay double FICA and probably make estimated tax payments every quarter.

Personally, I would be fine with doing contract in the short term while I looked for the right permanent job, but I would be more comfortable with a "permanent" position. And benefits.

5. Good advice everyone - thx.

Think I'll take it and keep looking. Not sure what that does to my resume, but guess I'll figure it out later.

6. I may have a similar choice to make

Really hard to decide, but it always goes back to what are your biggest personal pros and cons.

For me, the FT benefits and relative stability are VERY attractive after a few years of contracting and not knowing where you'll be or how long you'll be in that role, but on the other side of my equation, the work I'd be doing in a new contract role would elevate my game skills-wise, and there's a possibility of becoming FT if I do the job well and the work is there.
