There is no war on "Christmas", but there is a certainly a war on Christ.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DURHAM D (a host of the General Discussion forum).

His teachings of the acceptance and love for all humans, even those who were diseased (lepers ), outside the law and gasp women (those who are without sin cast the first stone), outsiders: the Samaritan woman at the well ("You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink? For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.") tax collectors (Jesus sympathies with the tax collector Zacchaeus, causing outrage from the crowds that are angry that Jesus would rather be the guest of a sinner than of a more respectable or righteous person.) The list of people who were loved, accepted and cured is long. Even if you do not believe these things happened, surely you can see the love and acceptance that is in all of these stories and that is missing in the Fox idea of the war on Christmas.

1. Fuck Jesus... since you brought it up.

I am sick of hearing about the groovy left-wing Jesus versus the mean right-wing Jesus.

Fuck Jesus.

Why not post an OP about how Fox isn't presenting unicorns the way you think of unicorns?

9. Looks like I was wrong. Many people here can't see the real message of love and

acceptance that is at the heart of following the true teachings of Christ. I have known and seen many of these people who are loving and kind and nonjudgmental. I am honored to have known them and wish I could be more like them.

12. Then peddle your religion in a religion forum

Sorry that not everyone shares your religious views about "the true teachings of Christ..."

Sorrier still that you seem to think everyone is supposed to.

You are complaining, in General Discussion, about a war on the true teachings of Christ.

16. depends on the writer

the new testament had many different writers with many different themes. While many find parts of new testament inspiring, it is equally said other parts have little to do with love and acceptance. You like most people pick and choose from the writings to find the message that they want to hear, although it is not always the message every writer of the new testament voiced. This is why many people can do without being too overtly religious and yet can still enjoy holidays. I simply don't agree with every New Testament author, or probably every idea of even one, although I do like parts of Mathew a lot. For the record final judgement is sort of a main theme in the most of the writing so nonjudgmental is sort of an odd way to look at the religion. He's coming back to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end...

17. The real "War on christ" message is "I'm a victim, and everyone's picking on me."

"War on christ." Right.

Christians are responsible for so much death and misery- That it sorta blots out all of your so-called love and acceptance.

We invaded iraq and killed 100,000 iraqi's because we pretend they took down our towers. Even if Bin Laden had been an iraqi, the invasion was uncalled-for.

Had it been a terrorist from a christian country, none of it would have happened. We only attacked iraq because they're muslim. Period.

Sorry- Try selling your love and acceptance to the remaining Iraqi's. I don't think they're feeling it. Neither am I.

10. The Jesus who said to hate your family, who came not to bring peace, but the sword?

Who took his anger problems out on a herd of pigs and a fig tree? That guy? The one who's supposed to return to Earth in clothes dripping blood with a sword in his mouth to kill everybody and destroy the world? That guy?

Thanks but no.

15. I always enjoyed Christmas, Christ on the other hand was always kind of a downer

the long run up of a story about someones rather bland death and surprisingly rather unremarkable rebirth.

Give me carols, presents, egg nog and parties any day over a lot of fusing about a 2000 year old dead guy.

18. I'm sorry, but there is a lot to be desired in Jesus's morality.

Jesus said to love him more than your family. Jesus said anyone who would not accept him as king should be put to death. He came to brink the sword not peace. I'm sorry, but even among religious leaders Jesus's morality isn't the best. Buddha's springs to mind as more common sense and without any of the threats of damnation or commands to love him above your family or execute those who won't bow to him.
