1. fact that Morsy's speech is taking so long means that there r conflicting opinions re content

سلطان سعود القاسمي ‏@SultanAlQassemi

As @ezzatahram says the fact that Morsy's speech is taking so long means that there was some conflicting opinions regarding the content

@ezzatahram is a political commentator. Last we heard, they're delaying Morsi's pre-recorded speech as he consults with unknown 'advisors'

3. Morsi speech (1)

Simbakis ‏@Simbakis
Morsi is reading a speech

Andy Carvin ‏@acarvin
Morsi speech on CNN Intl; not CNN or AJE, oddly enough.

@SultanAlQassemi

Morsy: I feel my responsibility towards all Egyptians, those who support me and those who don't

Mohammed Yahia ‏@MohammedY

#Morsi: I can feel the right of every Egyptian on me whether supporter or opposition because all Egyptians are equal to me #Egypt

@SultanAlQassemi

Morsy: There is no difference between Egyptians (for me) neither religion, nor political affiliation

Gregg Carlstrom ‏@glcarlstrom

Morsi calls the recent "events" regrettable, painful, says the political crisis should have been solved through dialogue

Mohammed Yahia ‏@MohammedY

#Morsi: the events of yesterday happened under the tapestry of political strife halting progress to our future dream state #Egypt

The Daily News Egypt ‏@DailyNewsEgypt

#Morsy: Political disagreement should be resolved through dialogue and wisdom and peace

Andy Carvin ‏@acarvin

Morsi: I address this to those of you opposing me with diginity... I state clearly and openly why we respect right of freedom of expression

Morsi: I can't tolerate any person committing murder or vandalism

Morsi: Or people intimidating unsuspecting civilians, or inciting subversion against legitimacy

Morsi: Those who protested on #Dec4, some resorted to violence, assaulting my motorcade. A driver suffered grave injuries.

Mubarak 2.0

@SultanAlQassemi

Morsy: I will not allow anyone to call for the overthrow of the legitimate order

Andy Carvin ‏@acarvin

Morsi: Those who infiltrated the crowd, this cannot go unpunished. And yesterday was worse. Peaceful demonstrators assaulted.

Morsi: Utter, blunt assault by weapons. This is something new to see - firearms being used, and molotov cocktails.

Morsi: 6 egyptian youth lost their lives, 700+ ppl suffered injuries. Acts of terrorism against civilians continued til this morning.

Ikhwanweb ‏@Ikhwanweb

#Morsi: the deposed Mubarak regime will not be brought back to life under any circumstances

Morsy: Does peaceful demonstrations mean to attack a road or disrupt production or ruin Egypt's image? It can't be

Rawya Rageh ‏@RawyaRageh

#Morsi criticizes blocking traffic, destroying public property, tarnishing #Egypt's reputation. 'This is no peaceful expression'

Mohammed Yahia ‏@MohammedY

#Morsi: firearms, shotguns, and tear gas was used. Six Egyptians were killed and over 700 injured in these sad events #Egypt

@SultanAlQassemi

Please note that the original tweet about the HQ being on fire came straight from the official MB twitter. There were no other reports of that except to say a few chairs had been set on fire.

Right afterwards, State TV broadcast pictures of the HQ on fire showing lots of "smoke". The smoke was all the teargas they launched.

Imo, this is just to further incite their supporters to go after those who won't accept the Morsi/MB sharia rule.

27. AP: "Egypt's president offers nothing to defuse crisis"

"Egypt's president offers nothing to defuse crisis"

(AP) – 34 minutes ago

CAIRO (AP) — Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi offered nothing concrete to defuse the country's worst political crisis in nearly two years in a nationally televised speech late Thursday, refusing to rescind a disputed constitution drafted by his allies or his decrees giving him near absolute powers.

A night after thousands of his supporters and opponents fought pitched battles outside his Cairo palace that left at least six dead and nearly 700 injured, he angrily accused some of the opposition protesters of serving remnants of the old regime. He vowed never to tolerate anyone working for the overthrow of his "legitimate" government.

Some among the thousands of opposition protesters gathered near his palace raised their shoes in contempt as they listened to him. Others broke into the iconic Arab Spring chant of "the people want to topple the regime."

...

He also refused to rescind his decrees of Nov.22 placing him above oversight of any kind, including by the courts, saying only that he was willing to annul one decree that gives him wide ranging powers to "protect" the nation and its revolution. He did not say how he would do that or give any other details.

42. I just read about this murder of a brave man.

"A witness told Reporters Without Borders that Morsi supporters deliberately targeted Deif, who works for the newspaper Al-Fagr. Five minutes before he was shot from a distance of just two metres, he showed colleagues photos of the president’s supporters with sophisticated weapons. His camera was stolen after he was shot, as colleagues went to his aid.

Other journalists were injured during the night as they covered the clashes. They included Mohamed Azouz of the government newspaper Al-Gomhuria, Osama Al-Shazly of the daily Al-Badil, Islam Abdel Tawab of Al-Alam Al-Yawm, Sahar Talaat, a correspondent for Radio France Internationale’s Spanish service and an ON-TV journalist"

52. Things will get far worse because of fundamental problems such as Egypt cannot feed itself

It cannot grow enough food in the Nile Valley and delta.

It has no way to generate enough foreign exchange to import food.

55. Attention Men: If You Attack a Woman In Tahrir Square, You Might Get Your Ass Kicked, Finally

Attention Men: If You Attack a Woman In Tahrir Square, You Might Get Your Ass Kicked, Finally

....

From above, a mob sexual assault in Tahrir looks like a hurricane, picking up speed and engulfing women in a flash — their screams drowned out amid the roar of protesters' chants.

On the ground, the damage that's done in a matter of minutes drags on in slow motion — as familiar faces melt into the melee, leaving victims alone with grasping hands.

...

Many protesters in Tahrir suspect that mob assaults are carried out by men hired by the government, since both the timing and location of the attacks are usually the same. An upcoming UK Channel 4 Unreported World documentary (airing December 7) features interviews with men who claim to have been paid to attack female protesters. Whether or not this is true, many women have been scared away from the square.

...

The women emerge, "naked, bruised, and traumatized," as ambulance drivers and paramedics described the four sexually assaulted women they'd seen in Tahrir Square the previous week. While these uniformed men admit that "it's our duty to help everyone," they also provide an ever-so-thoughtful solution to lessen the burden on everyone: "Girls shouldn't be in this crowd with men."

...

http://gawker.com/5966368/attention-men-if-you-attack-a-woman-in-tahrir-square-you-might-get-your-ass-kicked-finally

..Witnesses powerless to intervene against the horde in a mob sexual assault can tweet the location to @TahrirBodyguard, which immediately dispatches several uniformed volunteers to respond...
