Okay, fess up people

I've been gone for a bit. Moved, starting a whole new life as a single woman and blah, blah, blah.

But I finally got internet and came over here to see how bad the Obama let down is. Obama being a fabulous candidate and at least in his first term, quite the mediocre President, I figured we were back in that stage - call it the "Obama let us down" phase.

So, who the hell replaced him with an almost populist, pugilist? I mean, I have to give whomever credit for finding a person who looks just like the Obama of the first administration but that is not the Obama I've come to know and dread. So, either, this man has decided he actually has a mandate and is listening to us, or one of you dingbats replaced him with a different Obama.

Fess up.

1. He's got nothing to lose, plus

the first four years have taught him that he can't negotiate with fanatics, zealots and, yes, terrorists.

He's a lame duck president with no campaign to worry about and no need to make nice with assholes.

That's what happened.

2. My dear tavalon!

Congrats on your new life! I wish you all sorts of success.

Now. As far as I can tell, this is the real President Obama. He seems to have been energized by his healthy win, and by the intransigence of the cowardly, traitorous Republicans.

Go figure!

3. Couldn't be happier about this shift in the way our President is comporting himself.

I was so hoping that in his second term, he would go for more of a legacy than being the first black President. This is a good start.

As far as my own situation, it will, in the end, be a good place to heal - but it will need to be a little longer than five days.

As an aside, Will Pitt stayed on this barge when he was here for Andy Stephenson's memorial. It was painted " Pepto Bismol" pink back then. Now it's painted lollipop purple with green trim. The rest of the dock has large homes (think Sleepless in Seattle) but this one is just small and garish. I think the dock owners keep it and its owner as mascots - proof that Fremont, WA, really is still weird and not yuppified. Lucky for me on all those accounts and that my friend just had his tenant move out.

I keep busy making it into my new home until it hurts so much, I sleep. I know I will come out the other end stronger.

Time is my friend, I just wish it wouldn't be my turtle based friend, ya know?

5. I'll take anybodies speed

This hurts like hell. I'd like to get through this part and get to the part where I get to be peaceful on a rocking barge with beautiful sunsets and a view of Mount Rainier and the space needle. I want to get to the place where I can feel joyful that I live in one of the 5 coolest areas of Seattle instead of a suburb just outside Seattle.

There are some things I will never get over. That can't be helped, but geez, time is moving like molasses right now.

6. I am so damn sorry...

(but the "I'll take anybody's speed" make me chuckle...lol)

Everyone's situation is different, so I don't presume to know what you're going through, but I've been through a similar situation and didn't have the beautiful setting in which to rebuild. You really are in a beautiful place...what a gift... though I COMPLETELY hear you about not being able to really appreciate it yet.

One minute at a time. That's all you can do. Take it one minute at a time and be as gentle with yourself as possible. Let me know when you need some hugs, or even a phone chat. My daughter was going to school in Seattle until last year; if she were still there, I'd send her over as a hug surrogate.

7. I think you must know by now,

I think you are amazing.

And you just said almost the same things my therapist said to me tonight.

Oh, and thank you for understanding my gallows humor. A lot of it seems to just go right on past. But hey, I figure if it amuses me, that's enough.

One day, I hope to meet you (and your daughter) in the real world. Maybe if you come for a visit to Seattle. My place is small but you will always have a place to stay as long as I'm here.

Edited to add: Oh, and tell your daughter I live just down the hill from the Fremont Troll on the Burke-Gillman. She'll know where that is. Oh, and the hilarious thing is I swore I would never live in a gated community but the dock is gated and locked so I guess I should never say never.

8. I think Michele is all over him

And the kids too. They know SOMETHING needs to happen, and soon.

Women have a way with men, y'know?
